raymow (736), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 10, 2008 I’m not a big fan of the aroma of this beer style (it tends to give be the impression of a stale beer). However, the color and flavor are better than expected. Not bad overall (and with a pretty cool label, too).
Rynoplasty (253), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 12, 2008 Pours a light hazy amber with a small off white head. Aroma is rich and malty. Taste is smooth and malty, with a slightly nutty caramel flavor. A nice marzen. jtk57 (2), Jarrettsville, Maryland, USA does not count Oct 11, 2008 Bottle from the Wine Source in Baltimore, MD. Served in a royal pint glass. Pours an orange-tinged, caramel color. Thin white head dissipates quickly. Aroma is sweet and malty, not strong. Flavor is malty, slight hops but not assertively hoppy. Roasted nut finish. This beer is very easy to drink and quite refreshing on an October afternoon. Clipper City has other offerings that are leagues beyond this beer, but all in all a nice representative of the style from a well regarded local brewery. porterhouse (954), Alna, Maine, USA Oct 3, 2008 (Bottle (best before 1/09) from 1828 Vintage House) Pours bright amber with a tall off-white head. Malty aroma of pumpkin, vanilla and caramel. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, maybe a touch thin. Flavor is malty but a little timid - caramel, vanilla, pumpkin and a little egg with some bitterness creeping up on the back end. Not bad but kind of a "lightweight" Oktoberfest. DrDavid (361), Johnson, Vermont, USA Sep 26, 2008 (Bottle). Malty aroma. Orange-amber in color, with moderate quickly disappearing head. Pleasant malty caramel flavor, mildly sweet. Short malty finish. johntreeter (115), Greenwood, Indiana, USA Sep 25, 2008 12 oz bottle that just says MarzHon. Pours a clear amber copper with a thin off white head that left very little lacing. Light aroma of malt and bread. Flavor is much better with a slightly sweet maltyness and bread with a crisp balanced dring finish. Medium body, lively carb, wet texture, dry feel. Solid Marzen.
