Light copper in color with a thin head and spots of lacing. Sweet rolls, nuts, and straw account for a rather faint yet pleasant aroma. Crisp with some zip to the palate. Lighter bodied than most with a good prolonged bitterness. Malty with sweet and grassy flavors. Nice hop bitterness (more than normal for the style)and a good floral hop flavor as well. Bread and mixed fruits complete an impressive flavor. I liked this one much better than I thought. KnN (746), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 24, 2008 Looks tastes and smells like a pretty typical lager with maybe just a hint of maltiness to distinguish it from something like a Sam Adams. Meh kind of beer all around. BeerLS (20), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 20, 2008 bottle - Looks like they dropped the "Balto" from the name. Pours brown with a thin head and a very light malt aroma. The flavor is all caramel malt. It has a light body and a mild flavor. While not too bad, it’s underwhelming in pretty much all respects. Mouth is light as well with malt presence. A little unremarkable, but not bad ChainGangGuy (2597), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 15, 2008 Appearance: Hazy, golden-amber body with a small, fizzy, white head and light effervescence.
Smell: Lightly toasty, lightly caramel-scented malt nose with hints of honey and fruit.
Taste: Dry, toasty biscuit malt character with only a light, mild honeyish sweetness. A touch of fruitiness precedes the spicy, Noble hop bitterness. Drying, crisp finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-high carbonation.
Drinkability: Not a too terribly Oktoberfest. A reasonable malt character mixed with a pleasing, complimentary Noble hop bitterness. Rynoplasty (544), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

Taste is smooth and malty, with a slightly nutty caramel flavor. A nice marzen. jtk57 (2), Jarrettsville, Maryland, USA does not count | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 11, 2008 Bottle from the Wine Source in Baltimore, MD. Served in a royal pint glass. Pours an orange-tinged, caramel color. Thin white head dissipates quickly. Aroma is sweet and malty, not strong. Flavor is malty, slight hops but not assertively hoppy. Roasted nut finish. This beer is very easy to drink and quite refreshing on an October afternoon. Clipper City has other offerings that are leagues beyond this beer, but all in all a nice representative of the style from a well regarded local brewery.
