Malty aroma of pumpkin, vanilla and caramel. Mouthfeel fairly smooth, maybe a touch thin. Flavor is malty but a little timid - caramel, vanilla, pumpkin and a little egg with some bitterness creeping up on the back end. Not bad but kind of a "lightweight" Oktoberfest. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 26, 2008 (Bottle). Malty aroma. Orange-amber in color, with moderate quickly disappearing head. Pleasant malty caramel flavor, mildly sweet. Short malty finish. johntreeter (122), Greenwood, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 25, 2008 12 oz bottle that just says MarzHon. Pours a clear amber copper with a thin off white head that left very little lacing. Light aroma of malt and bread. Flavor is much better with a slightly sweet maltyness and bread with a crisp balanced dring finish. Medium body, lively carb, wet texture, dry feel. Solid Marzen. cheapdark (2046), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 20, 2008 As stated in earlier reviews, this bottle does not say ’Balto’ on it. A little off on the olfactory when popped. Color is toward brown yellow clearness. Fairly smooth flavor which has some hay in there. Short interesting near bitterness. Weird sweetness in its own way. Clean palate, finish is lager acceptable. RCL (1492), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Sep 19, 2008 12 oz. bottle labeled just "Clipper City Marzhon." Best before Jan. 09. One of my least favorite Oktoberfests. Papery, cardboardy malts. Not very sweet at all, yet still somehow manages to be cloying. Bland, and the parts that aren’t are unpleasant. Pass. jeremytoni (1122), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 18, 2008 From a bottle poured a straw color with a fair amount of head. Nice malty spicy flavor with a short finish. swoopjones (1920), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 16, 2008 On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Probably my least favorite Oktoberfest/Marzen to date. Light amber pour with slight sweet malt aroma. Flavor was slight sour with malty sweetness. Some strange off character bitterness at the end. Not good Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA
