Dark amber color. Heavy body. 2007 bottle. Malty DMS aroma or something off. Not that pleasant to smell. Sweetish. A little throat burn. Lower drinkability, but I’m not sure why: either high ABV, higher alcohols, or just general bad taste. fonefan (11890), VestJylland, Denmark

Clear medium amber color with a small, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, wood, oak, toffee, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 2, 2008 12oz bottle purchased from Bauer Wines in Boston. Pours a clear dark ruby. The aroma is sweet. Too sweet. I’m scared before the first sip. First taste is not AS sweet as I was worried about (phew) though it still has a good wallop of sweetness, which isn’t really my thing. I think it is "sherry" flavours that this beer has, but I’m not sure because I never drink sherry. But it’s one of those flavours that used to make me think I didn’t like barley wines.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Deep copper red body with a rocky medium khaki head. The smell reminds me of Jaegermiester and peach sherbert, like the world’s strangest float. The taste is caramel with some toasted walnuts and bread crust. Most of the taste is short lived, but you get a little bit of brown sugar and oak in the finish. Actually, while this one is strange, I kind of enjoyed it. BuckeyeBoy (1696), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 18, 2008 12oz bottle thanks to Acknud for this one. Pours out a clear brown topped with almost no head. A nice aroma of sweet pit fruit and light hop. Tast of light malt more of that pit fruit and a touch of hops. Not to bad. MrStitch (138), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice amber color with a thin off white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is malt, malt, and more malt with a bit of yeast and dark fruit thrown in for a change. Taste is sweet, malty, hint of dates, and doughy. Mouthfeel was light, thin, and not very carbonated. This is only the second barley wine that I have tried and I’m still trying to like the style. mcmd (148), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 13, 2008 2006 bottle. Amber, thin eggshell head. Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, and ripe fruit. Flavor of malt, caramel, brown sugar, and fruit. Thin palate, a little flat in the finish. Not my favorite barley wine.
