Could be hoppier particularly in finish, which is why I would probably not age (regardless of 10% ABV) for fear of turning phenolic with such heavy dark fruit characteristics already bordering on balsamic. I didn’t hate it but I wouldn’t go out to seek it either. tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Decent aroma, a lot of spicy hops. Taste follows, more spicy hops,a lot of alcohol and a lot of malt sweetness. A straightforward barleywine - not terribly complex, but a good sipper. surffisher (196), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

Pours reddish amber with a suspension of fine floaters and a modest yellow head. Leaves sticky lacing. Malt-dominated aroma includes candied fruits, sweet bread and booze. Flavor is sweet and fruity upfront, but with balanced bitterness in a long finish. Pretty nice and unique flavor although it does have a bit of that cough syrup thing going. Medium-full bodied, moderate carbonation. Smooth with nice warmth in the finish. Very worthy barleywine here. Seems very much underrated (or else very inconsistent). gpekar (232), Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Poured a deep copper/orange color. There was a thin head that became just a wisp of a head. The aroma was slightly hoppy with a bit of sweetness. A subtle scent of grassy malts was there too. There was a creamyness to the beer with a bit of a honey sweetness. The alcohol was there but hidden pretty well at 11%. There was a bit of an alcohol warmth on the finish. corby112 (778), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Very hoppy aroma with hints of dark fruit and sweet alochol. Very hoppy, balancing out the dark fruit and alcohiol sweetness quite nicely. Sweet with nice alcohol warmth in the finish. spaten (2), candy land, Massachusetts, USA does not count | 1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Mar 15, 2008 if you like piss in your mouth drink this beer! but seriously drink this beer if you want to shit your brains out all day! you should spend your money on a 32$ hooker instead of buying this beer! peace out girl scouts! It isn’t overly complex in its character, but it has a nice malty sweetness , some dark fruit, and a nice alcohol punch, with just a tiny hint of hop. pik5el (51), Pasadena, Maryland, USA

I didn’t think it was too bad at all. It was a very straightforward barley wine, nothing intimidatingly complex. It wasn’t like drinking math. But I do think it could use a bit more hoppiness. I like my barley wines with some hop bite to them.
