| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 30, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small offwhite head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, alcohol, and floral hops. Taste is astringent alcohol with a harsh bitterness. Rather thin body for a barley wine with a good amount of alcohol burn. Would probably be better with some age but not by much. wingman333 (249), San Antonio, Texas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 27, 2007 Bottle...dark reddish hue with slightly sweet, somewhat smoky flavors, not my favorite barleywine or product by Heavy Seas. I will try aging one of these to see if it improves with age. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 26, 2007 Pours amber with a thick tan head. Semi-sweet aroma of caramel, light fruit, and a small note of hops. Flavor is highly alcoholic at first, then gives way to a fruity, caramel body, and bitterness in the finish. Palate is medium, a bit hot, and dry. Not bad, but I think this one needs some downtime. malrubius (1004), Valley Stream, New York, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 26, 2007 Half bottle in pint glass. Pours dark amber with small head, little lacing. Faint malt aroma perceptible through the alcohol that burns my nosehairs. Sweet malty start cut off by immediate extremely dry finish. Flavor is practically done before it starts. Seems like it should last longer, especially as it claims to be English-style. Medium-full bodied. Probably would improve with aging. Dorwart (1828), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 26, 2007 Thin, frothy off-white head. Dissipates quickly. Very good carbonation for a BW. Caramel, sweet malts and a bit vegetal in there. Hmmm. Decent hops in the aroma. Mostly decaying grass hops aroma. Color is a medium brownish orange with good clarity. Sweet and malty with a little bit of caramel and sawdust. Kind of sickly sweet. Big alcohol presence that makes the gums tingle. Finishes warm and slick. Not a very good barleywine. jrob21 (1275), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 12, 2007 Nice color. Very alcoholic. Syrupy caramel aroma. Some vanilla and plum but mostly alcohol in the taste. I usually look for a little more well balanced beer. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 8, 2007 Bottle Golden pour with decent head. Sweet roastey and sugary flavor and aroma. Alchohol is well hidden. Pretty thin mouthfeel for a barleywine. Decent, but not great. Saarlander (1579), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA
