Orange and caramel are the most dominant. Kind of overly sweet in the taste, alot of candy suagr and sweet malts. i wish it was a little more complex or subtle, one of the two. pretty light bodied barley wine. i’d like this more if I could taste more alcohol and a little less sweetness. Hazy mahogany colour with a mostly diminishing creamy and frothy tan head. Pine, toffee, alcohol, citrus, and spicy aroma. Toffee, citrus, and dark fruit flavours accompanied by a dry, somewhat overbearing persimmon, piney, and alcohol bitter finish. Medium to full bodied, smooth and soft mouthfeel. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2007 Not bad. It pours a lighter shade of brown with ruby highlights and a slender ecru head. The aroma is malty, caramel and a touch of toffee, with an earthy, floral bitterness. The flavor’s well balanced between the malts and hops and has an extra alcohol kick. Not complex, but quite drinkable.

A beautiful copper color with nice carbonation but poor head retention. Nice clean hop flavor and in good balance with the malts. Not nearly as bold as a ’Bigfoot’ type barleywine. I could ’slam down’ several of these without pause where as a true barleywine must be slowly savored. A great ’strong ale’ but not a very notable barleywine. If I could get this beer on a regular basis, I would buy this beer on a regular basis. Wakie (612), Centreville, Virginia, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Hops, hops, and more hops. Maybe this thing needs to age more but all I got from it was a multitude of hops. In the aroma and in the taste. Unlike other barley wines which I have tasted. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 11, 2007 12oz bottle. Orange amber with a small off-white head. Fruity, estery malt with slighty doughy caramel in the aroma. Very sweet malt followed by a ruddy turning fruit and golden raisin flavor. Syrupy caramel in the finish with residual esters and a high alcohol heat. Mouthfeel is heavy, somewhat chewy.
