Commercial Description:
Created to celebrate Clipper City’s 10th Anniversary – extremely limited and vintage dated – this extravagantly malty barley wine will show well upon release but continue to evolve for years.

12oz bottle thanks to vwcraig. Nice ruby color with an oily smattering of a head. This smells like cherries and egg-nog, Christmas oddly. Tastes like more malt candy, hmm. This was a little thin but I am always game for a barleywine. Thanks again for the trade Craig! Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-08-2008 04:20:31

Poured at the Jupiter brewfest. Cloudy amber color. Aroma is malty wtih syrup, sugar and nuts. Flavor is sweet and malty...notes of brown sugar, maple and a nice little hop bite. This was pretty darn good.

Bottle received from mwelsh13. Pour was nice amber color, little carbonation and some lacing. Aroma was all malt and a hint of brown sugar. Flavor was initially plum and finished malty and with a little noticable alcohol. Mellower than other barleywines I’ve recently had, and I really appreciated that. Overall, very good!

A dissapointment. Weak, watery. Kind of a bitter salty plain flavor after a while. Flavor was just really weak. I was suprised that barley wine could be this bad. Too bad.

12 oz bottle - Pours a fairly clear deep amber color with smallish light tan head. Aroma is nutty, lots of light caramel, notes of lemon and touch of hops. Flavor is chewy, fair amount of caramel, vanilla, herbal hops, with a balanced finish. Decent overall, not amazing but not bad either, and a fairly good deal for the money.

Odd aroma. Green pepper flavor. Medium body. I don’t want the overall taste was but it didn’t resemble barley wine. Let down.

Bottle. Pours copper with off white head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, and brown sugar. Taste is slightly sweet with lots of alcohol in the finish. Decent.

Nice deep copper coloured body with strong ruby highlights and a super-thin off-white head. Aroma of strong pit fruits, nice toasted malt, toffee, light hops and a potent alcohol flavour. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong potent alcohol taste with malt and toffee noticeable. Aftertaste short but very strong. Overall - this one needs some age, its a bit rough around the edges...but after time might be better. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 26-December-2005.
