Bottle from Greenwood Gourmet Grocery in Greenwood, VA near Crozet. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with little head Chocolate, caramel and nutty aroma. Taste has the same notes, but is much fruitier, with t.opical fruits, pear and banana.Low effervescence, medium feel.

1 year old. Deep, rich burgundy copper body with a strong, rocky beige head. Slightly cloudy with ever so slight carbonation. The smell is rich and dark, yet funky. Chocolate, caramel, cocoa, and even some coffee combine with tart lemon, mellow banana, and strong cinnamon and clove spice. The taste is still spicy, with loads of esters, but the fruity/funky notes are beginning to emerge. Chocolate and coffee initial, followed by a whack of breadiness and and savory flavors, and finishes with some orange and lemon acidity, some grapefruit, banana and caramel, and lots of spice and funk. I knew this would be a good one to age. A few more years and this will be a fantastic, funky beast. Blessed be those who cellar the weizenbocks.

Nice rich copper color and a pleasant slightly citrusy flavor. Not too hoppy and very drinkable for a 10% beer!

Slightly squashy, pumpkin-y flavor. A bit sweet with caramel flavors. Not too boozy for the ABV.

12oz bottle. Poured a clear medium orange color with an off white head. Smelled of red wine vinegar mostly with hints of clove. Slightly acidic and vinous with raisin, fig, and toffee notes. Eh.

12oz bottle marked BB March 08. Poured a medium brownish color with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of cloves/spices, trace of bananas, and ’sweaty’ wheat. Tastes of the same clove/spiciness, bananas (more than the aromas), wheat, and some chocolate. Light alcohol in the finish but overall well hidden.

Pours out a dark brown color with a small head. Aroma has hints of banana, and wheat. Just as your typical weizen bock would. The flavor at first was nothing but booze. It was less than desirable. As it warmed the alcohol was subdued or my taste buds were shot. Im not a big fan of this style and this one had too much alcohol.

Dark copper body with a yellowish amber head. The aroma is sweet with lots of apples and some caramel. There is also some fresh pancakes with syrup. The taste is fairly bitter with some grapefruit and a tannic notes, like tea that has steeped for too long. There is also some banana peel, but it’s dominated by a strong cough syrup character. The finish is dry and the flavor is long lingering, not a good thing. It leaves me nearly gagging as it doesn’t get any smoother going through the glass I poured. Possibly the biggest difference in smell to taste I have tried in a beer.
