Pours slightly hazy chestnut brown with a 1-2 finger creamy eggshell head that has decent retention. Aroma is overripe banana, caramel, pumpkin bread crust, a little dark fruit, sweet wheat bread, banana oil, yeasty bread dough and toasted grain. Flavor is wheat, banana, super sweet lemon poopyseed bread, super sweet malt and some light caramel. Finish is sweet and metallic, with some bread dough, banana and toasted wheat. Palate is medium to thick bodied, syrupy and slick with a slightly drier finish. Not really a good beer, but it hides its alcohol fairly well and might make a decent showing as a dessert beer.

12oz bottle best by Jun 09 enjoyed 7.15.09. Pours a murky unclear dark caramel brown with a sudsy fizzy frothy beige head. Aroma is fairly metallic, formaldehyde, dry wood, banana, very smokey, caramelized brown sugar. Seriously tastes like a smokey banana laffy-taffy, quite cloying, artificial banana flavors, some smoke, vanilla, dough, sugary, alcohol is not an issue, strangely drinkable. Chewy body, medium/full, big mouthful but not sticky just seemingly heavy and thick, softer large carbonation bubbles.

12oz bottle. Pours a almost clear mahogany. Nice looking bear. Nose is some light banana and cherry pit, very sugary nose with lots of malt. This is to sweet and missing the pretzel dough like flavor of a good german doppel but the flavor profile is good and the abv is completely non existant. The cherry and banana in those nose do come out in the flavor and some nice wheat flavor but once again with Clipper City there is too much residual sugar.

4 pack purchased at Ross Deli in Lakewood for $7.99. Not a bad deal for this strong-armed wheaty. The aroma is toffee, buttery sweet malt, like fresh off the oven bubbling sugar and butter mixture toffee. This leaves quite the impression. The flavor doesn’t come off quite as soft and sweet, but has a good roasted nut taste with a sharp crispness to the end. It goes well with the 10% ABV, which after 2 spaced out quite a bit has given me a nice head change. I now plan on drinking a third one with a Glockenspiel. The only odd thing is that this says at the bottom "for brewery-fresh taste, purchase before month notched." and it is notched April 09. Which was 3 months ago. Does that mean it was brewed then and wont taste fresh beyond that one month window, or did I get an old bottle? Either way, this tasted fine by me, not too crisp and new, and not old by any means.

Some girl wanted me to recommend something light. I saw "wheat beer" on the lable and figured this would be a safe bet. didn’t realize it was a 10% dopplebock. Oh well, probably for the best. Smells like a nice malty barley wine. Some sweet malts, a little booze, carmael. not too bad.

Eh! Well overrated in my opinion. Mine might have been out of season(date) Decent doppel flavor, very wheaty and malty-over done. A miss. Couldn’t tell it was 10% abv kudos for that...

Something must have been wrong with my bottle. Not good at all. Sour flavors throughout. Sweet aroma. Prune and banana taste, but with some acidity that was not pleasant. Light bodied for the strength.
