00cobraR (933), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Apr 22, 2008 Pours out a dark brown color with a small head. Aroma has hints of banana, and wheat. Just as your typical weizen bock would. The flavor at first was nothing but booze. It was less than desirable. As it warmed the alcohol was subdued or my taste buds were shot. Im not a big fan of this style and this one had too much alcohol.
kiefdog (305), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 10, 2008 12oz bottle from Kingdom Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a reddish-brown with one-finger tan head that settles quickly. Aroma is wheat, bread, yeast, some sweet malt and maybe hints of sour ripe fruit. Somewhat odd aroma emanating from my glass that are hard to put a finger on. Flavor is sugary and sweet like candy sugar and maple syrup with malty notes and toasted wood. Medium body with a slightly bitter and sweet finish. Still dont like the nose, but the taste is better. Heathen (455), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jul 5, 2008 THOUGHTS: I couldn’t find this one last year. Glad to finally get my hands on it. I was a little disappointed at first, but as it warmed it became a really nice beer. It hid the alcohol really well until it hit the belly.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a murky, medium brown with a small, off-white head. The aroma was moderate chocolate malt, moderate yeast, wheat, spices and some banana. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet and acidic with a hint of sourness and an average to long duration. There was lots os chocolate malt and some wheat, spices and yeast. The medium body was sort of syrupy with soft carbonation and a light astringent finish. joshwilfong (478), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 15, 2008 dark brown with slight head for a weizen. flavor starts with sweet esters of wheat then some darker malt tones. a strong alcohol finish provides some depth aracauna (2219), Georgia, USA Jun 12, 2008 There’s not a lot of carbonation in this. I poured fairly roughly and didn’t managed to stir up much head or fix. The body is a cloudy brown from the yeast, which is good. There’s a definite note of cinnamon in the aroma, a bit of banana, and a definite, but not overwhelming alcohol in the finish. It’s not bad, but a little disappointing, but then my experience in this style has some of my favorite beers, so maybe it’s being judged by a harsh standard. phishpond417 (1110), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 9, 2008 I was assuming this was going to be a American wheat, but man was I suprised! It pours a mahogany coloured colour with a large brown head. It has a mouthfeel very consistent with a bock so that is what I assumed next after I tasted it. Has aromas of bark, nuts, caramel and burnt toast. The taste is pretty unique, while it has a higher ABV, the alcoholy taste doesn’t appear until the finish. Tastes a little sugary as described before. Great full flavor and a hearthy mouthfeel in every sip. :)
