Pours reddish brown, small head. I liked this a lot more than I expected. There is a lot of wheat, some sweetness and caramel. Very malty. I am going to look for this one again.

A: Pours a nice nutty brown hue with a nice one finger head. The retention is good and some spotty lace is noted. S: Nice bock aromas with a blast of malt and some spice. Hints of banana show thru as well. T: Somewhat banana bread esque. This one has a nice amount of spice along with hints of banana, cinnamon, clove and brown sugar. M: Medium to thick in body. Has a little alcohol sting as it crosses the tongue.

Received 12-oz bottle via trade with kmweaver. Pours a hazy brownish amber brew with a thin off-white head that has some spotty lacing. Aroma of multi-grain malt, yeast, and some banana esters. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of bubblegum, banana esters, some cloves, wheat, and yeast. Finish retains the banana esters that lingers around after the finish.

Pours a dark cloudy chest brown color with a layer of sluge on top. No head or lacing to speak of. Not very appealing. Spicy aroma with lots of clove and peppery zest notes. Yeasty bready presence with slight chocolate and ripe banana as well as some subtle dark fruit. Yeasty bready medium body with some delicate subtle hops up front with a spicy syrupy center with a spicy dry finish with strong alcohol warmth. Spicy cloves dominate the flavor and are not integrated very well. Hints of sweet chocolate, ripe banana, dark fruit notes and a very strong alcohol presence. The ABV is not very well masked at all. This is kind of a hot mess with some decent flavors that are overpowered by the booziness and agressive clove presence.

12 oz bottle. Cloudy brown with a small head that dissipates to an off white ring. Aroma is wheat, banana, bread and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with a bit of sourness and bitterness, there is also a light alcohol taste. Medium to full body with mild carbonation and a syrupy mouth feel. Not a bad beer, just a bit sweet for my liking.

12oz bottle. Big, dark and sweet. A bit much for my taste though I’m sure there will be those who love this one. I found the taste to be somewhat like over ripe banana with a bit too much alcohol presence to it.

Brown pour with a light topper. Bright floral & malt aroma. This tastes like a first rate bock, as good as anything that might have been shipped over from the motherland of bocks. Flavor of wheat malt and esters, with some honey, dried fruits, and a little cocoa powder. Full flavored, and with a bit of tang in with the sweetness. How nice to come across a fine weizen doppelbock that was brewed in Maryland. I tried it also from a cask (no carbonation) and that was not nearly as good as from the bottle. I salute Clipper City for another fine voyage!

Cask. Bad beer. Bready malt with an odd aroma. Not pleasant to drink, so thank goodness it wasn’t mine.
