| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2008 Nice Trappist take off. Very little foam, bright copper color. A little out of balance, too sweet and then too boozy, than the real Belgians. Nice beer still. Ibrew2or3 (2843), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Pours a beautiful clear deep copper with tan head. The aroma has notes of fruity esters and roasted to caramel malts mixing together. The taste begins with sweet malts turning roasty and caramel candy like. Then peppery dark fruity esters emerge and overtake the flavor with raisins, peppers, prunes and bright red cherries. The undercurrent of malty sweetness runs throughout the flavor and builds some into the finish. Nice bold brash flavored brew. brewandbbq (269), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Pours perfectly clear, dark copper with a ruby hue. Almost an inch of off-white head arose before retreating to a partial skim coat.
Aromatics have plenty of caramel, raisins, cloves, dark sugar, and toffee.
As it warms, some dark rum steps forward as well as shades of butterscotch, cherry skins, and cocoa-dusted bannana peels.
The mouthfeel is medium with moderate carbonation. A bit lacking for a Belgian.
The pallet is lightly laced with rum-soaked raisins, red grapes, juicy malt, and a hint of sweet chocolate.
Bitterness is fairly firm and the beer starts drying, but finishes with residuals.
Alcohol is well hidden but warming enough to add some complexity and perhaps some vineousity later in life.
This perhaps could be a good one for cellaring, although it’s pretty damn tasty now. Let her warm up and you’ll find some nice complexities within.
Jack up the carbonation a bit and I’m sold.
Put it in a corked and caged 750 and people will drool.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 15, 2008 Pours a clear, medium amber with a thick beige head and lively effervescence. Aroma of ripe plum, candy sugar and raisins. Flavor is very alcoholic, with an abundance of dark fruitiness and sugar. Carbonation is very fine. Finishes cloying and warm. If an amped-up dubbel was the goal, consider it a success. derst27 (35), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 10, 2008 Pours a clear copper in color with absolutely no head. Whole lot of malt in the nose. Lots of malt in the taste with a very strong fruit presence as well. Not the best of the lot, but easily drinkable.
