Fruity, spicy aroma over a base of caramel and brown sugar. Smooth, medium/full body, lightly carbonated, leaves a slight stickiness behind. Malty sweetness dominates, fighting off a spicy bitterness that cannot fully assert itself. Pretty decent, although too sweet for my taste. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2008 bottle. puny off-white (quickly and fully dissapating) into clear brown body w/ reddish highlights. No Lacing. aromas of ripe fruit, alcohol, moderate spices, light caramel, and light candiedness. average carbonation. slightly sticky mouthfeel. moderate duration length. NOT BAD! NOT GREAT! | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Deep clear mahogany, with a bit of tan foam. Aroma is fruity, with notes of nutmeg and cinnamon. Quite a bit of cinnamon, actually. Its a bit like raisin breead and atomic fireballs. Flavor is surprisingly crisp, given how sweet the aroma is. Some raisin & prune, some toffee. Ends up just too sweet. jwardell (23), Newton, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 2, 2008 On tap. Dark brown color with little head. Malty, fruity aroma. Sharp yet smooth palate. Decent flavor but not quite as flavorful as most beers of this type. dlovell2 (141), Columbia, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2008 Color was an amber brown with white head that disappeared quickly. Fruity aroma. Malty fruity taste with alcohol taste at end. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 29, 2008 Bottle. Small fizzy tan head that mostly diminished, splotchy amount of lacing, transparent, observed carbonation, and a red-burgandy hue. Nose was malty, caramel, sweet, alcohol, and fruity. Flavor was sweet, malty caramel, vinuous but not overly done, and rather bold tasting upfront. Tingly mouthfeel and medium body. Very quaffable and one that I wish was available locally to keep on hand as I enjoyed the taste of this one. Yes, there are much better to be had of this style, but I truly like this one. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 29, 2008 Dark amber. Small, creamy, off white head. Aroma of candy sweet malts, lightly toasted grains, and fruity yeast. Same flavors with a moderate alcohol kick at the end. Full body, balanced carbonation. Drinkable. | 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Feb 27, 2008 Holy sheet is right! This is dreadful! Aroma was almost nil. Could pick up roasted malt faintly. Pour was terrible. A clear bright amber/brown with no sediment and no head. Taste was very wine like in the front with a nasty brown sugar aftertaste. As it warms stale dark fruits seem to peek in but you have to be looking for them. Calling this an Abbey Dubbel is a stretch. Blah.
