Commercial Description:
Just released our newest seasonal – “Holy Sheet”. From the centuries-old tradition of Belgian Abbey monks comes our Uber Abbey Ale (9%). Aromatic and very full bodied, the beer will pour a deep burgundy in color and feature a rich, robust depth of malt character. Grab a line – Holy Sheet! – or you might be swept overboard.

Bottle (12oz). Clear deep copper, average frothy off-white head. Light sweet caramel malt, perfume hops, figs, dates and soft sweet spice (7-). Very light flavour, alcohol is there but mild, very still, reminds me of spiced reduced wine, or maple syrup, "racks a-character!" - light, slick mouthfeel, very still, quick finish - tasty, not bad, but .... not much of adubbel, really - too simple and syrupy.

Medium amber, decent head. Aroma of caramel and dark fruits, hint of yeast. Surprisingly full bodied and flavorful, with plenty of fruit notes, mostly dates and apricots, with perhaps a hint of raisin. Yeast notes on the finish keep things nicely Belgian in nature. Definitely enjoyed this one more than most here.

12oz. bottle. Richly sweet and fruity aroma, featuring notes of dark brown sugar, raisin, banana and black cherry, along with lighter hints of doughy yeast, spice, tea leaves, chocolate and dried flowers. Clear medium red-brown color with a fine, lasting, uneven head. Flavor characteristics amount to a fairly rich combination of toasty and dark malt sugars, yeast esters, a backdrop of acidity and bitterness, peppery spice, some vinous traits, milk chocolate and faint alcohol. Palate is semi-dry and nicely warming, body is just this side of full. Does possess some desirable traits and complexity. Worth a go.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a chestnut color with a trace of a tan head. The aroma was sour, tangy, sweet and had an apple element. The flavor was sweet and sugary with notes of caramel, cherry, apply and a hint of nutty malts. The finish was dryish nutty caramel. The beer hides the alcohol very well.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark amber color with a puffy off-white head. Aroma is very malty with a good amount of sugar, bubblegum, and candy. Flavor is very sweet as well with a strong malt and bubblegum middle and a very sweet and warm finish. Alcohol burns on the way down. Very chewy and cloying on the palate.

Rated 5/12/07: Slick and very sweet, I wasn’t too impressed by this offering. Real dark amber pour with an off-white head that vanishes leaving very little lacing. Malty aroma, sugary sweet with lots of candied sugar. Oily on the palate, the alcohol is noticed right away but isn’t offensive. Flavor is rather one dimensional relying on a heaping dose of sweet malts, sugary with a light hint of yeastiness. Nothing stands out with this beer except maybe the high abv., drinkable but not too noteworthy. I’ve enjoyed the Heavy Seas line of brews from Clipper City but this one needs some tweaking.

Poured a reddish color. Has hints of candied sugar and caramel. Finished kind of syrupy on the tongue.
