Commercial Description:
Just released our newest seasonal – “Holy Sheet”. From the centuries-old tradition of Belgian Abbey monks comes our Uber Abbey Ale (9%). Aromatic and very full bodied, the beer will pour a deep burgundy in color and feature a rich, robust depth of malt character. Grab a line – Holy Sheet! – or you might be swept overboard.

Dark copper pour with a thin white head. Sweet, fruity and yeasty aroma. Full-bodied, slightly creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation. Initial taste is of dried fruit... plum, grape, apple. Lots of alcohol towards the middle, enough to unbalance the whole beer. Sweet finish. Starts off well enough but overly boozy.

Pours a crisp clear ruby amber with a healthy tan to greyish red head, thinning quickly. Sweet candy like smell with apple cider, cinnamon, and even a bit of licorice. Sweet, but dry with a caramel note. Creamy mouthfeel, but a bit overly carbonated and maybe slick. Big apple cider tartness. A bit of toast. Sweet, though the caramel is here less strong. Alcohol, a bit of tannin. A lingering alcoholic fruitiness with a cough syrup aftertaste. Interesting, but not my cup of tea. Damn Clipper City, why do their reasonably priced beers with eye catching labels stop catching me! I thought I learned with Flying Dog,

12 oz bottle. Poured a deep dark reddish/brown with a very small white head. Aroma is overwhelmingly sweet with notes of candied sugar, caramel, molassess and dark fruit. Flavor is too sweet. This beer seems to be trying to hard to show that it’s a Belgian style dubbel.

Nose a bit simple for a dubbel. Absolutely gorgeous ... but too clear for a dubbel. Crysal clear reddish brown, with a large light colored orange head (ok ... I poured from a great height in order to get a decent head!). Taste has hints of Belgian dubbel, yeast and dried fruits, but the candi sugar and caramel flavor was overwhelming and the bitterness may have been excessive for the type. I enjoyed the beer, but it’s really not a dubbel..

Alright. Not the best belgian I’ve had. I enjoyed the ommegang much better and I compare to that because that is the only one ofd this style that i ve had.

Pleasant taste experience for for a 9% "Abbey". Probably not 100% true to style. Fruity and caramel. Strong malty notes and a lingering yeastiness gives it a great mouthfeel.

Clipper City has yet to blow me away, let me start with that. An amber appearance with a yeasty aroma consisting of some caramel and brown sugar. Some orange notes in the flavor as well as caramel and cherries. A rather one dimensional but ok tasting take on the Dubbel style.

Deep cola coloured body with a nice dense tan head that tops the beer very nicely. Looks good, although a bit too clear - doesn’t look like much body. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, nuts, raisins and strong tints of metal. Full-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavours along with plenty of pit fruits, dates, raisins and musty figs. Alcohol overload and a very chewy maltiness tucked in with some of the metallic twanginess of the aroma. Overall, a strong and potent beer that doesn’t start off too mellow. I think this beer will age well and taste better in time, but its a bit rough around the edges right now. Regardless of that, the beer still is good and is probably worth trying for the style...especially in a local Washington beer.
