Commercial Description:
Just released our newest seasonal – “Holy Sheet”. From the centuries-old tradition of Belgian Abbey monks comes our Uber Abbey Ale (9%). Aromatic and very full bodied, the beer will pour a deep burgundy in color and feature a rich, robust depth of malt character. Grab a line – Holy Sheet! – or you might be swept overboard.

Deep cola coloured body with a nice dense tan head that tops the beer very nicely. Looks good, although a bit too clear - doesn’t look like much body. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, nuts, raisins and strong tints of metal. Full-bodied; Strong roasted malt flavours along with plenty of pit fruits, dates, raisins and musty figs. Alcohol overload and a very chewy maltiness tucked in with some of the metallic twanginess of the aroma. Overall, a strong and potent beer that doesn’t start off too mellow. I think this beer will age well and taste better in time, but its a bit rough around the edges right now. Regardless of that, the beer still is good and is probably worth trying for the style...especially in a local Washington beer.

Extra from OhioDad. Oh man, whats even the point. This beer is rather really simple: take one part cheap unbalanced IPA, two parts heat/alcohol burn, 1/2 part something partially resembling a Belgian malty dubbel. this crap is barely drinkable and very unbareable. Ugh, pass on it. The funny thing is it actually scares my nose away and then makes my throat regret swallowing. I can go into further detail but why waste everyones time.

12 oz bottle and served in my Unibroue tulip: Nice coppery reddish hue greeting the drinkers topped by a fading frothy head and spotty lacing. The aroma is full of sweet and fruity esters, caramel and bready malt, candi sugar, apricot and plum, anise and allspice, and a hint of phenolic activity. The taste is standard American Dubbel fare with lots of sweet malt, ripened fruit and moderate spiced finish. The biggest issue with the flavor profile is that the alcohol is too brash for the style, perhaps in a Trippel but not something you should see in this genre. I also believe that the increased alcohol level caused the mouth feel to be thinner than it should be. Between the near cloying sweetness and the brashness, this was far less enjoyable than I hoped. Passable at best...

Bottle shared with tupalev & blankboy - courtesy of blankboy. Ruby-orange with a small head. Aroma is warm, a bit boozy, with lots of sweet caramel melt and candy/sugar notes. Medium body. Flavour is waaaay too sweet, with cloying brown sugar and bourbon vanilla notes. Meh.

Pour is a dark brown with a average tan head. Aroma is on the plus side with some super sugar and molasses. Flavor is a touch weaker than the aroma but you do get some yeast and candi sugar along with a bit of dark fruit and alcohol. Just a notch above par but gets extra points for being a reasonable price.

12oz bottle, courtesy of argo0. Thanks, Aaron! Pours a clear, cola-brown color; fluffy, light-tan head with good lacing. Some brown sugar, clove, and spice in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: plenty of yeast and brown sugar and clove; alcohol pokes through a decent bit, but not terribly; chewy malt core. One-dimensional, drinkable dubbel. Medium, sugary finish.

Bottle shared with tupalev & GregClow -- my bottle. Pours a very deep ruby-brown with a small diminishing tan head. Aroma’s quite sugary sweet along with yeast, sweet malt and alcohol. Flavour of sweet malt and some hops, quite sugary again, and a little boozy. Medium bodied. Didn’t do much for me, definitely one of the lesser Clipper City beers.
