Commercial Description:
Just released our newest seasonal – “Holy Sheet”. From the centuries-old tradition of Belgian Abbey monks comes our Uber Abbey Ale (9%). Aromatic and very full bodied, the beer will pour a deep burgundy in color and feature a rich, robust depth of malt character. Grab a line – Holy Sheet! – or you might be swept overboard.

Nose is sweet with cherry and plum, pours a brown with a little off white head. Sticky body with lots of carbonation. Flavor is super malty and too sweet which is a shame because the flavors themselves are good. To much residual sugar ultimately.

Thanks to beachbum25 for this one - pours a lightly hazy purplish color, with a small, soapy lace - sugary sweet aroma, with some notes of plum, caramel, belgiany esters - flavor is boozy - alcohol is quite apparent - odd mix of caramel, dark fruits, light clove phenols, a bit of tangy citrus peel - a bit of bitterness on the end, followed by lingering alcohol burn - another dud from this brewery.

needs carbonation...flavor is good but it seems flat, watery....i’ve enjoyed most of the beers in this series but this one is off.

It smelled like an aged, bottle fermented beer like you would order at the Kulminator in Antwerp. It had a similar appearance to a Chimay Red or Blue. It had the boozy flavor like a Heavy Seas product has, which unfortunately overpowered a similar flavor to the Ommegang Abbey Ale.

I am very disappointed in this offering from Clipper City in their Heavy Seas line. I’ve enjoyed their Loose Cannon, Small Craft Warning and Winter Storm, but his edition falls way short of my image of this brand. The beer pours an almost brown color with a light amber hue. The head is a little off-white and leaves a good amount of lacing around the glass. The nose features a sweet and malty tone, with hints of sugar, orange and yeast. The flavors are delicately sweet with notes of brown sugar, orange peel, yeast and a hint of caramel. The finish is quite sweet and malty as well. There certainly isn’t much to write home about with this offering, which is very disappointing when it comes to Clipper City.

Started off fruity but finished with a strong alcohol kick. Fruity aroma with caramel in the finish.

Deep brown amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is fairly subtle. Sort of a muted vaguely Belgian nose. A bit of sweet red licorice and some light orange peel as well. Appley with a strange vaguely plastic/phenolic note on the back. Spicy and fruity yet completely indistinct. Meh.

12oz brown glass pry-top bottle. BB 01/10. Appearance: Almost no head, thin tan ring around the edge. Clear brown with hues of brick red. Nose: Sweet candy nose. Smells like dark caramel mixed with dried fruits. Palate: Medium- to full-bodied. Lots of caramel and chocolate sweetness. Raisins, prunes, leather, apricot. Almost no carbonation and a serious alcohol burn on the finish. Notes: Poor effort. Needs more carbonation, more balance to the mouthfeel. Flavors are good, but palate balance is way off.
