Commercial Description:
Just released our newest seasonal – “Holy Sheet”. From the centuries-old tradition of Belgian Abbey monks comes our Uber Abbey Ale (9%). Aromatic and very full bodied, the beer will pour a deep burgundy in color and feature a rich, robust depth of malt character. Grab a line – Holy Sheet! – or you might be swept overboard.

12oz brown glass pry-top bottle. BB 01/10. Appearance: Almost no head, thin tan ring around the edge. Clear brown with hues of brick red. Nose: Sweet candy nose. Smells like dark caramel mixed with dried fruits. Palate: Medium- to full-bodied. Lots of caramel and chocolate sweetness. Raisins, prunes, leather, apricot. Almost no carbonation and a serious alcohol burn on the finish. Notes: Poor effort. Needs more carbonation, more balance to the mouthfeel. Flavors are good, but palate balance is way off.

Semi-opaque reddish brown, thin tan head. Aroma is sweet, dark fruits, some alcohol. Flavor is very sweet, almost cloying, dark cherries, malts, ending with oddly medicinal syrup flavors and unbalanced alcohol as it warms up. Sort of see where it was going, but don’t think it’s successful in getting there.

Bottle. The color was somewhere between garnet and cherry cola; really beautiful actually. It had some ruby-amber highlights and a half inch of creamy white head that dissipated quickly. Aroma was dark fruits, banana bread, licorice, port, and bubblegum. Flavor was bubblegum, dark fruit, licorice, citric vanilla, oak, and alcohol. Palate had a nice weight to it, almost chewy, and soft carbonation. Really good american dubbel.

Pours a deep amber into the glass, with a dissipating wispy head. Light malts and dark, dried fruits to the nose. The malts transfer first into the flavors, followed by some dark fruits. Toward the back-palate, there tends to be some brown sugar leaning into a alcohol finish. The mouthfeel is completely aerated, more of a "thin" middle in the midst of a boozy, pronounced outer "shell". Not the best abbey dubbel out there, for sure. Although not top-tier, there is a lot in the effervescence, just not substance.

2007 bottle, via trade with beachbum25, good almond color with fleeting Bekgian foam, aromas of a lot of plum and raisin, flavors of waffles, caramel, cooked sugar and malty effervescent finish

I enjoyed virtually everything about this beer. I wish it was available year ’round. This is an underrated, tasty beer.
