| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Medium brown with an orange copper rust color at the edges. A thin, light khaki head sits on top. The nose has some rich bubblegum and caramel. There is also some strange black cherry. The taste has some rich toffee and black tea. There is also some light roast in the finish with some banana peels and tobacco. Overall, this is a heavy handed and thick brew. If you want something that I would call an imperial dubbel, go for it. wxman (592), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Pours a dark cola brown with an off-white head that lasts a millisecond then disappears. Aroma is brown sugar and dark dried fruit. Rich sweet burnt maple flavor with some slightly sour vinous notes. Really very good and well balanced. Skeegle (499), Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 23, 2009 Updated: Mar 11, 2009Nice full body and the darker fruits are there. It is very sweet. The 9% isn’t too evident but is nicely noticeable. Not very a graceful beer, but it won’t set you back $16 a four pack like the belgians do. Sregnar35 (732), Rotterdam, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2009 On tap at Mahars. Interesting flavors with this one. Has the nice bite of a belgian and is followed up with some serious sour notes, really tasty. BigBeer45 (711), Michigan, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Updated: Feb 23, 2009Pours a clear red-ruby color, sort of looks like red pop, there is generous effervescence, made some off-white bubbles that produced a ring, aromas of sweet dark fruit, lots of sweetness, syrup sweetness, has some bitterness at the finish but there is so much sweetness on the nose, flavor is predominantly sweet, some light and dark fruits, I got some spices in the sip, and some alcohol flavor as the glass warmed up a bit, this is a poor example of a dubbel, there are no meaty dark malt aromas and flavors you get in better choices, I would not recommend. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Purchased at Mustard Seed in Fairlawn, six-pack style. Pour is very attractive if I don’t say so myself. A semi-rough pour gave this a nice bubbling cream head out of a dark ruby body. The aroma isn’t as impressive, not horrible, but the mild notes of candy sugar and cherry is offset by a mushy grainy smell. Flavor isn’t anything to write home about, its more sweetness piled on top of malt flavors. It isn’t the kind of beer I would get my that up close to and enjoy, but it does satisfy enough. More of a heavier session beer that a standout piece. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 31, 2009 This was an abomination of a belgian. Typical Americanized slaughter-sugar bomb that was way out of balance. Sickeningly sweet. riversideAK (2799), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Brownish orange pour with a thin fizzy head. The aroma is of sweet malt, cola, toffee, fruit and yeast, some spice. The flavor is initially fruity with hints of chocolate, toffee, and cola. This is followed by a pretty long almost too over ripe fruit note. Some yeast spice makes an appearance as does a little warmth.
