Commercial Description:
Just released our newest seasonal – “Holy Sheet”. From the centuries-old tradition of Belgian Abbey monks comes our Uber Abbey Ale (9%). Aromatic and very full bodied, the beer will pour a deep burgundy in color and feature a rich, robust depth of malt character. Grab a line – Holy Sheet! – or you might be swept overboard.

Lots of spice here. Looks right pouring into the trappist glass, nice dark body. Something is off here though. Probably one of the bottom two or three abbey ale’s I’ve had.

bottle from beachbum25... pours a deep copper color. clear, yet it states on the bottle that thar be yeast at the bottom? it’s capped by a light tan/toasted almond colored head with bits of horizontal lacing. very odd aroma... sweet and sour... almond paste, caramel-y sweet malt, cooked pineapple and oxidized green apples. the flavor is again, oddly sweet and sour... super sweet on the palate (to the point of being unpleasant) with a vague fruity sourness (yet not enough to balance it out), mild bitterness, grass, grain and a light spiciness on the finish. alcohol vapor shows up during and after the finish as well. medium body from the left over sugars and a rather prickly mouth feel from carbonation

Light umber to copper color. Taller beige head. Holy phenols batman. Pure phenolic resin scent with hints of dms. I am sure there are some more pleasant scents, but having experienced the phenol resins recently they are first and foremost. With a little set time some dark cherries creep in, but still not that pleasant to me. Sweet fruity flavors, with plums, currants and white raisins. Very little hops and just hints of spice form the yeast. Seems under attenuated and unbalanced.

Courtesy of beachbum25. Pours brown with a thin white head. Smells of sweet malt, some spice, hints of fruit. Tastes fruity with some earthy hints and way too much residual sugar.

Bottle from beachbum25. Amber pour wtih a brown head. This is a very malty beer all the way around. Aroma and flavors give notes of malt, spice, fruit and this beer is a tad warm. Not bad.
