Commercial Description:
Just released our newest seasonal – “Holy Sheet”. From the centuries-old tradition of Belgian Abbey monks comes our Uber Abbey Ale (9%). Aromatic and very full bodied, the beer will pour a deep burgundy in color and feature a rich, robust depth of malt character. Grab a line – Holy Sheet! – or you might be swept overboard.

The aroma is like figs, raisins, yeast, and brown sugar. The appearance is amber with a nice head. The flavor is biter and like the aroma but not entirely pleasant. The palate is average for the style. Overall not one I would buy again.

Brewery with the best labels by far. This abbey is high in alcohol but if you didnt look you wouldnt know. great sweet aroma and fruity flavor. Would drink it again.

Pours deep slightly cloudy amber with a robust sticky off white head. The whopping 9% alcohol content is very forefront in the aroma and flavor. Flavor is very malty sweet with dark fruits throughout (fig?) adding a sour character that somewhat tempers the sweetness. Hops come through a bit at the tail end of the swallow through the flavor, but very little bitterness surfaces. Overall, very heavy handed on the candi sugar. Tough to down a full 12 oz.

Bottle. Amber with a creamy looking two-inch head. Sweet fruity aroma. Sweet, sticky fruit, alcohol, and chocolate malts (?) in the mouth.

Smells of caramel and a sort of waxy smell. Taste is rich and yeasty, some sour hops. Not amazing, but tasty.

Not great but nothing special. Strong boozy backbone but not too complex. Sweet and fruity. Bitter hop finish.

While I like some of the other offerings of Clipper City Brewing Co. (and proudly wear their jacket), and just love the Loose Cannon, and others this beer just didn’t live up to the promise for me. I do like the overripe fruity tastes in some beers but this is one that the lack of complexity, or something, just didn’t pay me off the way I expected. I am going to stick to some of the other "Heavy Seas" labels.
