Ungstrup (11148), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 26, 2008 Bottled. A deep amber beer with a fast disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet malty wtih notes of caramel and pumpernickle bread as well as light notes of cinnamon. The flavor is sweet mlaty with notes of pumpernickle bread and caramel as well as a light touch of alcohol. The body is powerful. Thanks Papsoe for sharing. General_Gao (2509), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Aug 21, 2008 12oz bottle from trade with nearbeer. Thanks! Poured a clear garnet brown color. The head was two fingers high and off white. It reduced over a minute or two to a thin film. Smelled of molasses, subdued fruit cake, and a hint of raisin. There was also a faint whiff of adhesive tape. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with a delicate warming alcohol effect. The flavor was fruit dominated and included the likes of pear , black cherry, and plum. Baking spices were also prominent. A bit of molasses hid in the background. Not bad. jameswolfe (95), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 19, 2008 A lot of things about this beer just seem off. It pours mostly clear reddish copper and smells of raisins. The taste is pretty sweet and malty. Too malty, and it doesnt really have that spice of an abby. nearbeer (1236), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 10, 2008 12 oz. Mostly clear, dark copper beer with a small head. Faint aroma of molasses, bananas foster and slight oak. Tastes of rum, banana, whiskey, raisins, oak, cherry, and a hint of brown sugar and molasses. Medium body is tingly with alcohol, light on the carbonation and dry. Some nice flavors, but they’re nearly knocked out by a little too much alcohol flavor. Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 1, 2008 Bright reddish-brown. Plummy aroma with sour cherries, chocolate. Fruity and sweet, some bubblegum, light spice. Some orange. Some nice nuances but too sweet.
