DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Dec 12, 2008 Cask at Coles/Mr. Goodbar Fest.
Hugely hoppy citrus nose, hazy burnt orange, tiny off-white head. Flavour is assertively orange, some pine notes, and a big backbone of good malt. Medium bodied, very well balanced, given all those hops, taste bud zinging.
Great. glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Dec 9, 2008 Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of roasted and caramel, moderate hops of perfume and lemon, light soap and meat for the yeast and hints of wood, toffee and vanilla. Head is average size, rocky, slightly off-white has good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is almost clear yet sparkling amber/copper. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is medium, creamy and has a soft carbonation. It finishes with a saccharine like sweetness and feel. This is a very unique IPA. I liked it a lot but the artificial sweet taste threw it off a bit. puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Dec 6, 2008 Pours a minute 1/3-inch off-white head over a light amber body. Loose, oily lacing. Sweet and floral aromas of hops and grains. Flavors of floral resinous hops, mild caramel and malt, green grapes, wheat, and very subtle citrus. Thin/medium carbonation and medium/full body. Finishes clean and slightly rounded on the palate. Well-balanced hops and malt. Slightly better than the average IPA.
Beershine (2677), Hue, Vietnam Nov 28, 2008 Glowing amber-gold with pretty thick tan head and splotchy lacing. Super-fruity and juicy nose. Pineapple and overripe pear. Also some earthiness that offsets the sweetness. Good body with moderate level of carbonation. Somewhat silky. Medium-bodied with pine and earthy hop finish that belies the fruity nose. Not bad. jake65 (1657), Williston, North Dakota, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle: Light orange / small white head. Lots of grapefruit up front and citrus. Sweet and fruity. Tastes fruity with more citrus and maintains a wet hopped feel. Bitters and sweet fruitiness. Light florals. Thanks Matt! TheOrange (405), Kent, Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2008 The pour is deeper orange hued with a small off-orange head. The aroma is of citrus and hops. The flavor is true to the aroma, with a hint of some other floral notes. The hop flavor is strong, but well balanced with the malt, overall, i think this is one of the better IPA’s I’ ve had. jjuf1853 (467), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2008 On tap @ The Brass Tap (Wesley Chapel, FL). Pours the standard cloudy golden orange IPA color with a small white head. Aroma is mostly citrus and pine hops. True to the name (Hop^3) it has a ton of hoppiness in the flavor. After trying this in the bottle from the Heavy Seas variety pack I was happy to finally try it on tap. It definitely didn’t disappoint. msante79 (778), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA Nov 20, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours golden orange with white head. Aroma is strong with hops, citrus, sweet malt and a little booze. Flavor is big with hops, citrus, sweet frutis, candied sugar and malt. Mouthfeel is a little syrupy. A good IPA but a little to sweet for my palate.
