beergeek86 (33), Clarksville, Maryland, USA Aug 14, 2008 on tap - pours an orange amber with a medium white head. aroma - caramel malt, citrus, and spice. flavor - very citrusy and blends very well with the floral hop profile. it is very florally hopped and the finish lingers on and on. slight bitterness at the end, but there is no definitive bitter, bitey finish. very nice slighty chewy mouthfeel. very easy drinking ipa, but very respectable none-the less. loveeeee this beer! GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2008 On tap. Pours a bright, clear golden amber with a three-finger rocky white head that lingers for the duration of the session leaving sheets of lacing along the way. Smell is very light with citrus hops dominating, mainly grapefruit and lemon zest. Flavor is heavy on citrus as well with mostly tropical fruits and with little hop bitterness. There is a bready malt base as well. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied but creamy and with less bitterness than I was expecting. This is an extremely drinkable IPA and one that I could drink all night long. Soonah (900), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 6, 2008 The pour was a palish copper color with an off-white, semi sticky head that produced pretty good lacing. The aroma was tart citrus, light pine and some softer floral, herbal aromas. Some sweet malt snuck in too. The flavor was in your face with the citrus and floral flavors with the malt not quite able to keep pace. Pretty easy drinking with a tight, dry finish. A good IPA. AmazonMatt (284), Panama Aug 2, 2008 An excellent IPA. Pours oragney-copper with a huge, long lasting beige head. Very floral and citrusy aroma. I am truly enjoying this beer. Great for summer BBQs. Not as filling (too me a good thing!) as many Imperial IPAs, but the 7.25% ABV will sneak up on you! BeerBaron617 (306), Novi, Michigan, USA Aug 1, 2008 12 oz bottle. This pours a lighter orange/amber color, that doesn’t at all reflect the flavor, which is full and hoppy. Probably one of the better IPAs that I’ve had in a while. Great job Clipper City!
Cheers! BigBeer45 (675), Troy, Michigan, USA Jul 31, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy copper-orange and gives a off-white thick head that thins out a bit, leaves moderate lacing on the glass, bouquet of floral, grapefruit citrus, grassy and piney hops, aroma of sweet malt arrives thereafter, flavors of malt sweetness with a tad of fruit, some toasted malt, a good amount of pine hop bitterness throughout the drink and ends pretty dry with some residual bitterness with a touch of dry herbs on the palate, touch of alcohol is felt on the palate, has a nice mouth feel, this IPA has big hops on the nose and pretty much an even malt and hop IPA with the hop bite given the edge in the mouth, a good IPA, I recommend it, if you love hops you will not be disappointed. blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA Jul 31, 2008 bottle poured a golden amber color with an off white two finger head that had pretty good retention. aroma hits off with tons of citrus pine hops, lemon and orange peel, bit of hop bitterness, underlying sweetness, and malts. clearly this is a hop centered brew. mouth feel is medium and there is enough carbonation to keep it lively. flavor has a yummy hop cocktail, citrus galore, juicy sweetness, moving to bittering hops, and some peppery spice. clearly the malt is just to keep this together as it just cant keep up with the hops level. really enjoyed this one as it has several contrasting hop varieties. mcmd (130), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jul 30, 2008 Pours a nice clear golden orange with an off white head, good lacing. Aroma is floral piney hops with honey also. Flavor is sweet malt and honey balanced by lots of hop bitterness in the finish. There is also an interesting spiciness to this beer. Very well-balanced IPA - has the sweet/bitter balance of a DIPA without all the alcohol, which is impressive.
