Floral and spicy smell, seems to be pretty well-balanced b/w the hops and malts, maybe too much, I expected it to be substantially more hoppy. Not bad though. craftbeerdesign (744), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA

Huge hop presence on the nose - spicy, floral hop profile that explodes through your nose. citrus on the tip of the tongue... medium to full body....wonderful long bitter finish. all around a really solid IPA - one of the best imo. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 7, 2008 Updated: Dec 29, 200812 oz. Bottle - Always been a fan of Heavy Seas, the graphics are a bit silly (A buddy of mine calls them "the pirate beers"), but the beers speak for themselves. Pours a yellowish copper with a big fluffy white head and can be smelled from a distance away. Aroma is big time hops, pine, citrus, spicy, foral, grapefruit, etc... Taste is huge hops and very apparent IBU-age and nice malt backbone. Nice bitter hop bite at the finish, very well-balanced especially given the higher ABV for a regular IPA. Overall, above average. jb (1034), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2008 Had this at a wings place at MB. Very well disguised alcohol on this one. This one started very malty with the standard grapefruit/pine aroma. Nice balance to it coming from the malt, and never guessed the booze factor. Liked it and I enjoy IPA’s. Taste was of floral and bitter hops, with the bitter hops standing out on the finish. RomanW70 (297), Providence, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 27, 2008 Pours clear copper with a minimal white head. Medium hop aroma with notes of grapefruit and pine. Taste is similar with sweet malts right up front and decent bitterness at the back. Very well balanced. A very good beer, but not the hop bomb I was expecting. mrant (330), New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 24, 2008 Smells of wonderful sour hops with a slight spiciness to it. Taste is strong hop presence, similar to DFH 60min but less smooth. No sharp dryness at the end, a very nice IPA. BeerZack (116), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2008 Light copper color thats the slightest bit hazy. one to two-finger head with rough pour that sticks to the glass.
Sweet and fruity smelling. Pint grapefruit, lychee and tropical fruit, bit of caramel. Some alcohol noticeable in the form of a soapy/tropical fruit impression.
Sweet orangey caramel flavor with notes of apple, kiwi and pine. Bit of soapiness again, that I contribute to the alcohol. Not very nice for such a low abv.
Medium body with moderate carbonation. Drinkable, if you can get past the weird off-flavors.
