milewide (609), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA May 15, 2008 Lingering hop bitterness. Amber color. Thin head. Hop level seems more like an IIPA, but ABV is in the IPA range. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark May 15, 2008 Bottle @<a href=http://ratebeer.com/forums/thisted-kalder---%F8lsmagning-den-1204 87119.htm target= new> Thisted Tasting by Maria.. (No offense you American IPA lovers).
The hops actually blend well with the barley flavors - who would have thought!? Instead of a bitter finish, the hops spark a happy place in the palate that leave you wanting more. There is a subtle sweetness throughout and the floral character and aroma leaves the mouth watering.
Yes, the smell is "aggressive," but if you’re reading this, you can’t be faint of heart when it comes to beer. I agree with many posters that this is the closest to IPA perfection I’ve ever tasted. If you find a 6-pack of these, consider yourself lucky and take it home and enjoy! ThaBobfather (178), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 7, 2008 Did I bath in potting soil? It’s a great smell though. Aggressively hoppy smell. Cloudy but deep golden. Not overwhelmingly bitter taste. It’s rich and thick. CaptAnkeny (14), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA May 3, 2008 Tasted on TAP, and many a bottle, but only in Baltimore. I wish I could get this out west.
HOP 3 [cubed]! This is the closest I’ve tasted perfection. And it’s not a Portland brew. It’s now what I seek out when visiting the Land Of Pleasant Living, Baltimore, MD.
So good, I had to take the tour.
HOPPY, Fruity, Tasty, kicky, ranks right up there with the Best each year at the Oregon Brewers Fest. Highly recommended to any IPA’er. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA May 3, 2008 4-21-08 bottle
Red orange copper with nice head. Very floral bitter dry smell. Sharp rind bitterness in the flavor. Mouthfeel is pretty smooth and is enjoyable. Drinkable.
