Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear gold with a half finger off-white head that leaves decent lacing. The nose is caramel malt, floral and citrus hops. The taste is toffee, sweet citrus and mild tart citrus in the finish. Medium bodied. A little sweet but decent. AskForJenny (627), Ontario, New York, USA Sep 11, 2009 12oz - Gold liquid under white head. Mild hops on nose. Plate reminded me more of an European Pilsner. Not what I expected. pineypower (1076), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Sep 7, 2009 Can’t believe I’ve never rated this. Just picked up a fresh 6’r so here goes: Pours out a nice light amber color with a small white head. Aroma is of some citrus hops, grains, and a slight sweet fruitiness. Taste is well balanced, citrus and floral hops, some bready/grainy notes and some fruity sweetness lingering around in there also. Solid IPA and a good session. USCBeerMan (103), Columbia, South Carolina, USA Sep 7, 2009 bottle. pours amber with a sudsy thin offwhite head. Aroma is floral hops and a touch of grapefruit over some bread notes of grapefruit and oranges. Also some smooth caramel malts. Blended together very well great balance and a smooth palate. very smooth and balanced and drinkable. Nice.. j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Sep 5, 2009
On tap for growler fills at Half-Time. Pours a clear golden amber with a medium thick white head. Big citrus and fresh pine. Medium bodied and crisp with a light sweetness. Large grapefruit bitter finish. Tasty.
corby112 (671), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 3, 2009 Pours a clear golden orange color with light amber hues when held to a light source and a one finger foamy white head that quickly fades into a lasting ring. Minimal lacing.
Massive hop aroma fills the room once the bottle is opened. Lots of earthy and floral hops, resinous hop oil, citrus notes with a caramel malt backbone and a slight hint of grass.
Once again the earthy/floral hops dominate the flavor. Resinous chewy mouthfeel with a huge hop blast of bitterness that lasts throughout, lingering over the caramel malt backbone into a bitter dry finish. Medium bodied with a nice balance from the malt profile. Slightly sweet from the citrus notes and the alcohol is very well masked.
ladnewton (200), London, Greater London, England Aug 30, 2009 Draught on 28th July at Rattle & Hum, NYC during their East West Challenge festival. Pale yellow with thin, quickly dying white head. An aggressively hoppy taste is lightning-conducted by honey which is craftily controlled both in amount and intensity. Slight cheesiness from the dry hopping and a bitter-ish finish. wavers1 (111), novato, California, USA Aug 29, 2009 bottle courtesy of ivy7496, thanks! this one is very light and smooth in every way. the pour is light, but without much head. color is a very crisp clear yellow, but with a tinge of deeper orange. aroma is really nice, pure light hop essence. not too oily or heavy on the nose, but very present like a concentrated rose smell. odor of fresh baked peach scones with wild flower honey on the nose. flavor is very hoppy and light. this beer is so clean on the palate it’s amazing. i feel like i could chug this stuff all day, very crisp and refreshing, doesn’t even feel like beer it’s so clean. it reminds me of several other grand hoppers, such as two hearted and pliny. great ipa, one of the best i’ve had. very sessionable and appreciable at the same time.
