RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Apr 18, 2008 Firkin. Orange with a big fluffy head ... kind of surprisingly big. Big floral hop nose with some citrusy notes. Very hoppy taste nicely balanced by the more subtle malts. A great IPA. MrStitch (138), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice ambery copper color with a thin bubbly white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is fantastic... huge smell of citrus, pine, flowers, and spice. Taste is very nice, the malt is there but the hops really take over and control the taste. Tart, bitter, slightly grassy, and clean this is what I want my I.P.A. to taste like. Unforgiving in your face hops. Mouthfeel was sticky but not too bad, tangy, and warm with a nice full body. Excellent I will be enjoying many of these from now on. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA Apr 16, 2008 Overall, this has replaced Two Hearted as my favorite IPA. Loaded with pungent, oily hoppy goodness, this is a delicious brew. Never astringent or boozy, it typifies an IPA to me. I love this brew. CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Apr 12, 2008 12oz Bottle. A very nice, gooey hop aroma. Succulent spring creosote bush, cactus flowers, and maple sap. Floral, spice and citrus amalgamate. Pours a pale orange, with a wonderful off-white soap that builds and stay. Lacing the glass slowly. Flavor is complementary. A rather robust malt and sugar profile hold up a hop flavor that stays in a spice note, but develops some metallic character. Chewy. Not overly sweet. Smacks in pear flesh. Grassy and dry in the back end. A middle amount of creaminess comes from the body of the beer. I could use just an edge more hop flavor from the initial presentation. Alcohols add complexity and appreciated warmth. In total, there is something about the combined effect of the beer that is dusty and dull. A papery dryness in the roof of my mouth that prevents the sugars from seeming clear and pure and the hops from maintaining quality. Otherwise, this is a mostly delightful IPA. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Apr 11, 2008 Bottle thanks to Mwelsh13: Pours a clear copper light amber body with off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, pine, grapefruit, some caramel and a bit metallic. Flavor is medium sweet, pine, some grapefruit and caramel. Light-medium body, creamy texture. Short bitter finish. beezz86 (68), Jasper, Indiana, USA Apr 9, 2008 Shaker from a bottle. Poured a nice orange color with a thin, white head. Has a nice hoppy and grapefruit (citrus) smell. Had a light body, thin texture, lively carbonation, and a lasting citrus finish. Again, the beer had a hoppy and grapefruit taste. Overall, I was very impressed with this beer. The grapefruit style citrus flavor was very impressive and it is easy to tell the hoppiness of the beer. Highly recommended. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 9, 2008 Updated: Sep 12, 2008Pours a dirty orange color with slight carbonation and a moderate sized head that does taper away somewhat quickly. Floral, citrus hoppy aroma that is not crazy powerful but you know it’s there. Hops dominate the flavor and while they are slightly bitter, they are more citrusy sweet with a touch of honey thrown in there. A very good beer that isn’t far from being a great one. rleveret (2), USA does not count Apr 4, 2008 This beer was amazing. I had the good fortune of trying it the first time straight from the cask. The aroma and flavor are straight hops, it’s like holding a handful of hops right up to your nose and taking a deep breath. It’s thick but not to hearty. You won’t need a nap after one of them. This is one of the best beers I’ve had in a long time.
