screigh (253), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 22, 2007 Pours a deep orangey copper color. Fluffy white head that disappeared and left no lacing. Very pleasing hop aroma. Taste is mostly hop flavor with just the slightest hint of malt in there. Finish is minimal hop bitterness. While I do think this beer is out of balance I like it and find it quite drinakable. wilkie (1189), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Dec 22, 2007 I can’t believe I haven’t rated this until now! I’ve had numerous six-packs, and II even had a cask version at the World Beer Fest in Downtown Raleigh in April that was REALLY incredible. Pours orange gold, fairly hazy, with small white head, nice lacing. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, pepper, soap, some caramel malt. Flavor is also hoppy--but not up front, mostly in aftertaste and at end. Up front, I get caramel, a little alcohol, and in the end there is a good bit of citrus, pine hops. Lovely beer. IF ANYONE GETS A CHANCE TO HAVE A CASK VERSION, KILL IF YOU HAVE TO, IT IS WELL WORTH THE TIME YOU WILL SPEND IN PRISON!!!! Dough77 (771), Aurora, Illinois, USA Dec 20, 2007 Ho hum. Too flowery and spicy. I realize now that their description flaunts this, but it was just over done. Reminded me of my first experience of 120min. IPA from DFH. Too strong on that stuff big time. It wasnt horrible, drinkable. But not a personal favorite. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Dec 18, 2007 Purchase before month notched: Sep ’07. 12oz bottle courtesy of Ryan (artusory), thank you. Slightly hazy orange with a thick film of off-white yellow for a head, quickly fading to a ring. Aroma shows this isn’t the freshest, but it doesn’t really smell all old and stale like a lot of IPAs with some age do. Lots of orange and grapefruity hops up front with a bit of spice. I feel breweries do a good job melding the aromas/flavors together when I think I smell sweet hops, and this happens here. The caramel sweetness seems to be both from caramel and from the hops. Also there’s a bit of cotton candy. Unfortunately, the flavor doesn’t live up to the hoppiness of the aroma. There is some grapefruit rind and pine, but both seem to be a shadow of their former selves in the aroma. Flavor seems to be more dominated by caramel. There is also a bit of bitter earth in the semi dry finish. Bitterness peaks at a 3-4, but mainly in the finish. Body is a bit thin with low carbonation. Would’ve been good if I had stopped after sniffing it. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium Dec 17, 2007 A very nice beer drunk on bottle at the kristmas beer festival. Not listed but someone brought it and I had the possibilty to tasste it. I love this one, very nice Probiere (992), Iowa, USA Dec 17, 2007 Horrendously overbalanced, tasting of nothing but grapefruit and pine trees. If there is malt in here, I cannot find it. theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Dec 14, 2007 12 oz. bottle from mj. Best before Feb-08 on label. Pour is clear orange gold with a one inch white head. Aroma of some sweetness, mostly malt biscuit sweetness, though it blends well with a nice ripe orange sweetness as well. Further back in the aroma is resin and earthiness. Taste has a nice blend of the sweet malt and citrus hops. Finish is wet, and a bit longer than I would like. Palate is nice and full, hiding the fairly high ABV (for an IPA). Nice beer all around, thanks for sharing this one Mike! sloth (1657), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA Dec 12, 2007 Medium sized white head, good retention with a spotty, stringy lace. Clear copper hued ale. Nose is nice, fruity, spicey, some bubblegun, piney and citrusy. Body is med/light, lightly oily on the palate with a just right carbonation level, for me. Plenty of the aforementioned hop notes in the flavor dept., with some hidden pale malts, more tropical notes as well. Finish is almost dry, fruity with an easy hop bite. Nice quaffer @ 7.5% !! Well done CC!
