Pours a clear amber color with an inch head and faint lacing. The scent was of grapefruit, citrus fruit and some spice. The scent wasn’t overwhelming on the nose, very different from other IPAs with a high abv. The taste was very refreshing with a nice balance between the malt and hops, slightly sweet upfront with some citrus, spice, grass and bitterness in the back. After my first one of these, I ventured out for a six pack. Cruzan59 (197), Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 17, 2007 6-pack from Bottle King, Wayne, NJ...I had been looking forward to finally trying Clipper City...bottle pours orange amber, thin off-white head...a little surprised that the aroma was very faint, but i did pick up a bit of citrus and hops...taste was much more apparent though, nice malty citrus with a zing of hops, mild bitter aftertaste...very thin lacing...taste-wise I really enjoyed this IPA, but I like to get a bit of aroma as I’m just about to drink...didn’t happen here but really good none-the-less. f351c4v (404), Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2007 Pours a clear, amber color with a nice white head. Initial aroma is very floral, backed by a clean citrus presence. Smooth body gives way to a crisp hop character with enough malt to be balanced. Wasn’t expecting much, but the beer proves to be a great value. morrdt (608), Jacksonville, Florida, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 12, 2007 Pour of clear rusted orange color. Nose of wheat crackers, dryer sheets, old grapefruit juice. A bit of alcoholic pungency. Oak. Tastes of brown sugar dusted on oranges, perfume, lemonade, sugary stickiness. Very warm and bitter. Peppery at the finish. Certainly not fresh. Grassy and dirty palate. Very subdued carbonation, which isn’t suitable. Enough to satisfy, barely. Thanks, Steve! aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA

For an IPA it was delightful, more filtered than most, and crisp. Decent head with nice unsymetrical lacing. Probably my highest rank IPA. jimhilt (1672), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
