morrdt (608), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Aug 15, 2007 12 oz. bottle from a Heavy Seas 12 pack sampler from Total Wine. Bottle is marked best before Nov 07. Pours a murky dark gold color with a little white head. Aroma is hops and citrus. Taste is delightful and warming, with a nice malt finish. Bravo! docsteigs (139), USA Aug 12, 2007 Nice hoppy aroma with citrus most prominent. Good taste with suprisingly malty finish. Nicest brew I’ve had from Clipper City so far. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 12, 2007 Pour of clear rusted orange color. Nose of wheat crackers, dryer sheets, old grapefruit juice. A bit of alcoholic pungency. Oak. Tastes of brown sugar dusted on oranges, perfume, lemonade, sugary stickiness. Very warm and bitter. Peppery at the finish. Certainly not fresh. Grassy and dirty palate. Very subdued carbonation, which isn’t suitable. Enough to satisfy, barely. Thanks, Steve! aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA Aug 11, 2007 Have you ever left grapefruit juice sit too long in your fridge? well here it is...it was so crisp I forgot the headache the IPAs ineveitably bring to me, (dont get me started about hemp leg waxings). For an IPA it was delightful, more filtered than most, and crisp. Decent head with nice unsymetrical lacing. Probably my highest rank IPA. jimhilt (1663), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Aug 8, 2007 Pours a two finger off-white head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Strong hoppy nose. Flavor is hoppy, piney and sweet in that order, smooth, piney aftertaste. $1.80 for a 12oz bottle from Tully’s Beer and Wine Wells, ME. b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Aug 2, 2007 Bright hazy orange in color with big sculpted, foamy off-white head and nice lacing. Light floral aroma and very hoppy. Flavor is good but a little mild. Not my favorite grapefruity hop flavor, but it isn’t overpowering like others so it’s balanced well. Very crisp finish and so refreshing. It may not be powerful, but it’s delicious JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Aug 1, 2007 Despite an aggressive pour, just a bit of white film atop this orange-gold brew. Aroma of oranges and green hops. Flavor is quite hoppy, with some orange zest and pine, rolling through a bitter finish and lasting aftertaste. A bit thin, but just lively and dry enough to avoid being watery. Definitely refreshing for 7.5 abv, which is hidden. Mmmm, hops. Tastes like America. MrRain (415), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Jul 31, 2007 12oz bottle poured into a shaker. The nose on this one is pretty typical for an IPA. There’s a bit of hardwood, dry apple cider, citrus and mown grass in the somewhat subtle aroma. It has a peculiar color to it. It looks like it is watered. The middle of the glass actually looks darker than the top and bottom. It has that melted ice cube look. The head is thin and leaves a soapy looking lace. It’s a pretty ugly beer actually. It tastes nice though. This is a very nicely done IPA. It didn’t come across as an hoppy as the description made it out to be but that’s pretty par for the course. I’m actually happier with this outcome. If I want an imperial IPA I’ll buy one. When I buy an IPA that’s what I want, not an IIPA. The finish is crisp and clean. This is a very nicely done beer and would make a great local favorite. By the way emobassfoo, mine DID come in a 6 pack and I’m clear out in St. Louis. You need to get on your local liquor store!
