Light floral aroma and very hoppy. Flavor is good but a little mild. Not my favorite grapefruity hop flavor, but it isn’t overpowering like others so it’s balanced well. Very crisp finish and so refreshing. It may not be powerful, but it’s delicious JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 1, 2007 Despite an aggressive pour, just a bit of white film atop this orange-gold brew. Aroma of oranges and green hops. Flavor is quite hoppy, with some orange zest and pine, rolling through a bitter finish and lasting aftertaste. A bit thin, but just lively and dry enough to avoid being watery. Definitely refreshing for 7.5 abv, which is hidden. Mmmm, hops. Tastes like America. MrRain (426), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 31, 2007 12oz bottle poured into a shaker. The nose on this one is pretty typical for an IPA. There’s a bit of hardwood, dry apple cider, citrus and mown grass in the somewhat subtle aroma. It has a peculiar color to it. It looks like it is watered. The middle of the glass actually looks darker than the top and bottom. It has that melted ice cube look. The head is thin and leaves a soapy looking lace. It’s a pretty ugly beer actually. It tastes nice though. This is a very nicely done IPA. It didn’t come across as an hoppy as the description made it out to be but that’s pretty par for the course. I’m actually happier with this outcome. If I want an imperial IPA I’ll buy one. When I buy an IPA that’s what I want, not an IIPA. The finish is crisp and clean. This is a very nicely done beer and would make a great local favorite. By the way emobassfoo, mine DID come in a 6 pack and I’m clear out in St. Louis. You need to get on your local liquor store! slang (397), Columbia, South Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 30, 2007 bottled. A right on IPA, Looks a little watery & the hop nose is lighter than most, but has a strong, sweet, & full mouthfeel. Grapefruit, lite caramel, & yeast, Its good. yesyouam (589), Fairport, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Loose Cannon is a very clear golden ale with barely any head-- just a white ring. The aroma is loud and of pine needles, grapefruit, and perfume. It is medium bodied with soft carbonation. It’s almost flat. It’s a bit astringent at the end. It’s a long taste! It’s almost sweet for a brief moment, almost fruity (like apple), and then a long echo of pine needles and wood, juniper and fenugreek. It’s quite bitter! Good stuff! emobassfoo (178), Webster, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 27, 2007 Rated while drinking: Pours a dark golden hue with a sturdy fluffy white head. Pretty nice lacing too. Smells like citrusy citrus. Floral and grass notes come through as well. Like it. Very fresh tasting. Lotsa hops in here, but not too overwhelming. Quite tasty. Palate shines. A little resiny, dry, but smooth on the way down. Very drinkable! Really wish this came in 6 packs. malrubius (977), Valley Stream, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 24, 2007 12 oz bottle in pint glass. Pours nice clear copper color with lasting off-white head. Strong fresh citrus hop aroma. Nice malt character balanced with fresh hop flavor. Medium body. All-around excellent beer. The best of the Heavy Seas line that I’ve tried. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 21, 2007 Rated 7/21/07. Pours a cloudy golden color with a small white head. Nice carbonation. Beautiful rings of lacing left behind after every sip. Whoa.....the aroma is very hoppy. I picked up floral, grassy, herbal, piney hops on the nose. The malt background is apparent on a deep inhale, but you have to cut through some serious hops to find it. The flavor is very nice. Again, piney, citrusy, and herbal hops dominate, but there is a decent enough level of caramel malt to mellow it out and make it palatable. Similar to Boulder’s Hazed and Infused in terms of hop intensity, but this one has a much better malt-hop balance. Heavy beer, but very drinkable if you’re into big hops, which I am. Nice, intense IPA.
