Appearance: Pours a clear light gold body with a small, frothy white head. Smell: Scads of grapefruit in the aroma together with orange marmalade and homemade sugar cookies. Taste: Laden with crisp hop flavors of orange peel and grapefruit and backed up by a sweet malt base. Light, bitter finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Slightly fizzy carbonation. Drinkability: A refreshing IPA (I wouldn’t consider this a Double-IPA) teeming with fruitiness. Fairy tasty and well-balanced.

NICE IPA FLAVOR. BITTER AND STRONG. LOW MALT PROFILE. SLIGHT STRAW AFTERTASTE WITH A CLEAN FINISH. OK MOUTHFEEL. A STRAIGHT AT YOU WEST COAST TYPE IPA. A BIT ONE DIMENSIONAL.

Bottle. 12 fl. oz. Sep. ’07 label notch. An orange beer with small, off-white head. Hoppy, grapefruit aroma. Medium bodied with an oily texture and a fairly short finish. Sweet flavor all the way until the very end where you finally get some of the bitterness. I bought a six-pack and enjoyed every one.

Total Wine. Excellent American style India Pale Ale.. Amber beer with a nice white head. Aroma is fresh floral hops. It’s a slightly different hop character than the average IPA but very tasty and enjoyable. A sweet sharp hop flavor that begs you to take another sip. Extremely drinkable due to the low bitterness level given the heavy hop load. Good alcohol bite like you expect in an IPA. Very tasty and enjoyable. Worth buying a few more.

Big fresh hop flavor. Light body. Just a bit on the sweet side. Big but balanced hop flavor (pine, herb, flower). Finishes clean, little bitterness but a very nice light hop presence.

12oz. Bottle $7.99 6-Pack Liquor World Poured Loose Cannon into a pint glass and it quickly formed a creamy white 1 finger head. The head faded slowly to a solid cap. The body is a very slightly hazed orange with minor carbonation bubbles rising throughout. I drank a few of these before and some had small protein chunks floating around and some didn’t. This bottle is free of the chunks. Leaves a small drink ring that falls back into the body after some time. The smell is pretty familiar among stronger IPAs and IIPAs. A solid mix of pine needles and bitter grapefruit. There’s a solid malt backbone That is biscuity with a mild grain profile. Fairly simple but good. Taste is more of the same. Pine hoppiness along with a generous squeeze of grapefruit juice. The pale malt and graininess stop the hops from running away with things but the swallow does leave a nice lingering bitterness in the form of pine needles and unsweetened grapefruit. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Some alcohol fumes pushing through on the swallow. It’s actually pretty refreshing. Good drinkability is due to the body. The body actually feels somewhat light for the size of this beer. An easy one to drink and enjoyable. I’d pick this up again to share with friends. There are better IPAs out there but this is a solid choice. I’m looking forward to trying more from Clipper City. 2/3/07
