Optigon (561), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Apr 25, 2007 Strong aroma of hops. Subtle undercurrent of malt. Solid mouth feel with a strong hops and citrus flavor. Mild passion fruit quality. VeloVampire (483), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 24, 2007 12 oz bottle - pous a deep honey gold with a beautifully long lasting white crown that leaves copius amounts of lacing. Aroma is fresh, juicy hops - orange, grapefruit, rose, some peppery notes as well. Flavour scale is tipped slightly in the way of hops, but that’s how I like ’em - lots of C-hops but with a caramel malt backbone that is just right. Alcohol warms at the back of the palate. Medium bitter finish. Excellent, excellent IPA. Very refreshing. melvin980 (184), Pennsylvania, USA Apr 22, 2007 A good I-PA. Nice taste to it. Decent amount of hops. I had it in the mix pack and it was my favorite of the bunch. BleacherBum (176), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Apr 22, 2007 Big fruity/floral hop aroma. Best part of this beer, IMO. Very yeasty/bready flavor with some bitter hops. Not very balanced, but intriguing. Medium carbonation, leaving a dry finish on the palate. Very earthy IPA. The hops really make this beer different. Wish I could be more specific. Good brew. doubelknv3 (559), Illinois, USA Apr 22, 2007 Tropical fruits, floral, and citrus hop aroma. Golden with a thin head. Decent balance of grapfruit and carmel. Smooth with medium bitter finish. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 22, 2007 Pours amber with a frothy white head. Sweet citrus hops aroma. This was loaded with hops, full on bitter flavor with a sweet finish. crockettma (2), Maryland, USA does not count Apr 20, 2007 A great beer for hop lovers. I was fortunate to try this beer on the same day that the first batch was bottled (one of the perks of working at Clipper City’s top retailer). nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Apr 19, 2007 Updated: Oct 20, 2008Bottle from sampler 6 pack, best by July 07. Clear, burnt orange, with an enduro three-quarter inch head of meringue that leaves a crunchy frosting all over the glass. Aroma is nice grapefruit with honey, caramel and a dash of pepper and oak. Taste is similar, but big body of malt sweetness holds up well against the powerful (but nice) flavor of the hops. Palate is just a touch to the light side of medium, and smoooooth. Aftertaste is a demonstration of more (yet a different) balance of malt and tongue tingling hops. Top-notch American IPA could also be a session beer for all seasons. Update: This is a damn good hop blend! Love the light carbonation and complex aromas and flavors that are slightly different on every sip. Upped initial tentative and inexperienced rating from a 4.3 to a 4.7 based on comparisons to many inferior AIPAs over the last year or so.
