emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Mar 26, 2007 This IPA pours a little clearer than I would expect from a good one, copper with good carbonation and a medium, creamy off white head. The aroma is very strong and typical of an IPA. Very sharp hop bitterness in the aroma, grapefruit, slight alcohol, pine. The flavor is very bitter and also typical of an IPA, which I am no fan of. A slight fruityness and sweetness is there, the alcohol is fairly subdued for the amount it says there is, bitter in the back of your mouth, not a whole lot of complexity just pretty much all up front hop. The mouthfeel is also typical, waxy and bitter with a warming finish. Probably one of their more solid beers. jlruthven (134), Milledgeville, Georgia, USA Mar 25, 2007 From bottle. Poured an opaque golden orange, with two finger offwhite head. Smells of oranges, grapefruits, and slight candy...some floral nose in there too. The grapefruit and pine really come through in the flavor, and the hops are HUGE. This could benefit from a little more body and one or two ABV points, but overall, damn fine. mynameisjonas (206), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Mar 21, 2007 awesome pale ale. this beer has incredible flavor with lots of hops. golden color bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Mar 21, 2007 What a surprise. Poured nice golden color with nice head. Aroma was of strong grapefruits, and a little sweetness. Flavor was grapefruits and pine hops. Had some sweetness in the finish. Little thin but very good. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Mar 16, 2007 Hands down the best beer I have ever had from clipper city. Pours out a nice coppery color with a medium white head. Aroma is a bit hoppy, citrusy, and very floral. Flavor really shocked me. Very intense hops. Had I not known better, i would have thought this was an IIPA. Outstanding job. I love little surpises like this. I expected this to be just another so so brew from clipper, but its a nice suprise. Boutip (2334), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Mar 13, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a medium amber color ale with a nice foamy head with slightly better then average retention. Aroma consists of medium bitter hops with some very subtle citrus flavour. Taste is a mix between some caramel malt with some medium bitter and citrus hops. Body is about average with some medium carbonation. I was expecting a hop bomb based on the description of the beer which mentions triple hops IPA and it seems I got a light IPA. JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Mar 10, 2007 Pale amber, clear beer with a small white head. Hopburst, dry grapey hops, hop bales, hopdust, hopoily, hop...anything. Very hoppy taste (surprise, surprise,...) grapes again and again hopbales. Some dry cookies underslung. Rest is orange zeste oils. And hops. Medium bodied, and oily MF from the hopoils. A bit too typical - which does not mean bad. By any means. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Mar 9, 2007 Poured an effervescent golden with a large frothy off-white head. Aroma of some mandarin orange and grapefruit with some wheaty biscuit dough. Flavor is strong and syrupy with some orange and light grapefruit with some earth and grass in the flavor. Some malt sweetness backs it up. Leads to an earthy and bitter finish. Perhaps a bit more bitterness than complexity. A tasty IPA with no major defects or off-flavors, though I could have stood a bit more hoppiness in the bitterness. Still overall way above average.
