The aroma is all about grapefruit and pine sap. Just a touch perfumey with a hint of black pepper. The flavor has tons of pink grapefruit with a dash of salt thrown in to temper the moderate bitterness. Light to medium-bodied and astringent with fizzy carbonation. Finishes, bitter, dry and very grassy. Ahhh, nothing quite like fresh grapefruit first thing in the morning… or any time of the day! JorisPPattyn (5187), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 10, 2007 Pale amber, clear beer with a small white head. Hopburst, dry grapey hops, hop bales, hopdust, hopoily, hop...anything. Very hoppy taste (surprise, surprise,...) grapes again and again hopbales. Some dry cookies underslung. Rest is orange zeste oils. And hops. Medium bodied, and oily MF from the hopoils. A bit too typical - which does not mean bad. By any means. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 15, 2005 The Lure: Luxurious C-hops hypnotize, as chalky resins magnetize their orangey, citrusy fruitiness. The hopfaring fruitiness is blaring.
The Festivities: The nucleus of this hop Vesuvius is a citrusy propensity leading to bitter wood density. Sweet orange zest sprinkled on lively earth. A gorgeous American hopping performance.
Transcendence: Listening to a virtuoso’s solo. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 4, 2006 One year old bottle cellared. Pours coppery with a very nice lasting white head that provides excellent lacing throughout the drinking. Smells yogurty and not as hoppy (to be expected from an older bottle). Tastes blend very well with nice citrussy bites and amarillo hops really shining through. A great balanced IPA with an excellent hops profile even at one+ years old. The malt backbone of caramel, toffee and some banana elements compliment the hops well. I need to find a fresh bottle to compare. madsberg (5045), Søborg, Denmark
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2007 Bottled. (Thx to Sammy for the trade). Orange coloured. Unclear. Fluffy off white head. Pine, citrus, herbs and flowers in the aroma. The hoppy aromas is balanced by a caramelly sweetness. Flaovur is quite grapish and flowery. Has some sweetness and spicy notes. Is medium bodied. Quite balanced. Dry. Is light to medium bitter in the end. Very easy to drink and would be a nice session beer hadn’t it been for the ABV. JoeMcPhee (5010), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 8, 2007 Pale amber beer with a huge hop presence in the nose. Sweet grapefruit, orange and a touch of vanilla notes over the top as well. There are some lovely apricot top notes as well. Light chewy hop resins throughout. Smooth bitterness with soft mango flavour. Light malt adds a touch of biscuity sweetness. A really tasty, well-balanced IPA. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 23, 2006 Draft at RFD night. Clear peache/orange hue. Sweet cannibus and basil hop nose. A bit thin, pasty, watery, but finish is good, spicy, almost saison like with a slight dryness. A good IPA, though off style a little bit. yngwie (4975), Kristiansand, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 23, 2008 Bottle. A clear, golden beer with an off-white head. Orange and pine in the aroma, as well as a good maltyness. Balanced flavor with malts and hops. Citrus, pine, resin and a good bitterness. Full-bodied. Lasting, rather bitter finish with pine and citrus. A quite nice one, easy to drink and not pushing the limits. (080412)
