12oz bottle at the Crosswoods Winking Lizard. Clear orange amber color with a quickly dissipating head. Nice aroma with lots of hop and a good malt balance. Malty flavor followed by hop, but kind of a weak finish. Decent overall.

Bottle from Jimbowood. Pours a clear amber with a bit of white head. Nose is a bit hoppy and some spiciness. Taste is a little sweet fruity and syrupy. The malts take over here and leave the hops behind. Has a little bitterness on the finish.

Bottle: pours to a solid golden amber, totally clear, with a small white head that seems to last all the way through. Aroma is has plenty of hops, showing mostly spicy/floral notes, bitter citrus, and light dry grass. Taste is dry grassy hops, bitter leafy hop, dry spicy citrus, light lemon, then a hint of earthy/bready malt, and pale malts towards the finish. The hops mostly take over in the finish, but there is a slight pale grain taste to go with the bitter/floral/spicy hops. Medium bodied, though it does seem just a bit light at times (not that I’m going to fault an IPA for that), and for some reason it seems to be just a bit underattenuated. I’d like it to be just a bit drier, but regardless of personal preference it’s a solid example worth your time. Re-rate: Much drier than when I first rated, excellent light body that matches the bitter and flavorful hops while not showing any alcohol. This one has quickly become one of my favorites.

Yellow pour with small white head. Good lacing. Nose of floral hops and citrus. Flavor was the same with some good caramel and piney notes. Creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle shared at acertain’s gathering.

Pours a light gold with a fine frothy white head. This beer provides an enjoyable fruity (Amarillo coming out nicely) hop aroma and a matching flavor, laid out atop a very light-on-the-malt body. Overall the hop intensity is more in the East coast vein, and the cascade flavors are conspicuously absent. There’s some pepper here, an interesting interplay of floral and fruit notes, leaving a beer that is extremely drinkable at 7.5% or at any percentage for that matter.

The same absence of strong malt (and strong hop resins) makes it a potentially very good hot-day IPA, but such also prevents it from quite reaching up into the top tier of IPAs.

I can’t believe I haven’t rated this until now! I’ve had numerous six-packs, and II even had a cask version at the World Beer Fest in Downtown Raleigh in April that was REALLY incredible. Pours orange gold, fairly hazy, with small white head, nice lacing. Aroma is hoppy, citrus, pepper, soap, some caramel malt. Flavor is also hoppy--but not up front, mostly in aftertaste and at end. Up front, I get caramel, a little alcohol, and in the end there is a good bit of citrus, pine hops. Lovely beer. IF ANYONE GETS A CHANCE TO HAVE A CASK VERSION, KILL IF YOU HAVE TO, IT IS WELL WORTH THE TIME YOU WILL SPEND IN PRISON!!!!

Merci Ruth! Robe cuivrée très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche qui s’estompe. Arômes amères de conifères. Saveurs de conifère, de malt caramélisé, d’alcool et d’agrumes.
