Rated 10/15/06: Well done by Clipper City, this is a thoroughly enjoyable IPA. Hoppy aroma of pine and grapefruit not as powerful as it should be compared to the flavor. Great pour rich deep copper color, a swirl of the yeast on the bottom makes it denser. Huge puffy head and sticky sweet lacing, one of the best looking IPA’s I’ve poured. Easy on the palate this is extremely drinkable and the finish is clean with an aftertaste that quickly fades. Well hopped flavor, medium malt presence that is well balanced for this style. Similar to the other great IPA’s I’ve had, but this one is easier going down yet powerful with a well masked alcohol content. Very good drink.

Apparent amarillo nose with tangerine and c-hops. Light amber in color with a flicker of a white head. Nicely bitter flavor with lemons and oranges doing battle. Pleasantly balanced with sugary malts, this beer is fairly decent. Thanks to beeryum for the opportunity.

Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden to light amber color with a thick and creamy white head, and a good bit of carbonation. They are not kidding when they say they use 3lbs of hops per barrel on this beer. As soon as I popped the cap, intense hop aromas blasted out of the bottle like a cannon shot. The nose on this beer is very vibrant and pungent with big aromas of zesty and citrus hops. Some sweet malt and peppery alcohol aromas fight for your attention, but hops dominate here. The palate is firm, with good pale and biscuit malt, which acts as a spring board to outstanding, fresh, fruity/juicy citrus hop flavor. Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale finishes with more good citrus hop flavor up front, then ends with a vibrant, tangy, mouth puckering hop bitterness that lingers on the tongue. Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale is a fantastic AIPA. It has really great hop aroma, flavor, and bitterness. Good malt character and soothing alcohol, round this beer out to perfection. A fantastic after work drink, or aperitif, Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale is well worth looking if Clipper City beers are in your market. Retailing for $6 a six pack, this beer has been on the market since October of 2005, and it looks like this one will be sticking around.

Super-hoppy aromas are fragrant and perfumey. Floral notes dominate. The brew itself is a deep straw-gold color. The palate is accomplished and even, with a gentle nip of hops at the front end of the beer that then grow into a full, dense hop sensation on the tongue. Finish is long and floral, as well. A good display of beermaking on this Imperial IPA.

12 oz bottle in pint glass. Pours nice clear copper color with lasting off-white head. Strong fresh citrus hop aroma. Nice malt character balanced with fresh hop flavor. Medium body. All-around excellent beer. The best of the Heavy Seas line that I’ve tried.

This was a surprise. I had this after a Dreadnaught it still held its own. Lots of citrus and a good amount of malt. i’m also surprised that its 7.5%. that’s pretty big for a regular ipa. rerate. I drank a 6 pack of this tonight. cost me $14 because philly is fucking gay. ignore any claims i made towards dreadaught. this is a pretty good ipa, very aromatic and flavorful but it’s way too full bodied. honestly, it tastes like a clone of hop ottin ipa.

A nice orange pour. Aroma is strong on hops. The taste is rather hoppy, but well balanced with malt. A lot more flavor then most IIPA’s i’ve had.

Sampled at the Newtown Brewfest 07 with Stegosaurus. Re - rated Good hop aroma with a good blended taste. I was glad I tried again this year. Much better.
