To me this isn’t a cannon to my palatte as I find the hoppy bitterness to be well balanced by the other elements present. The finish, for example, is dry enough to soak this up but watery enough to keep the bitterness to a good level. The alcohol is well hidden. The only downpoint is that it seems a bit too much on the grassy piney side to me. Slipstream (789), USA

A solid malt base with pleasant, complex hops. It is forceful, but not harsh, with a mildly bitter aftertaste. This has just the right amount of floral sweetness all the way thru. It is definitely a superior hoppy ale - anchors away! NJBeerman013 (786), Trenton, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Bottle. Pours copper amber in color with a small, lively pure white head. The aroma is very floral and phenolic, almost giving you the ability to taste the hops by smelling. This beer is a true hop head’s delite. It has a citrusy start and a floral finish. A really good IPA. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 4, 2005 Sampled at the Pizza Port 9th Strong Ale Festival, at the "ratebeer" table, thanks to whomever brought this. Hops were nicely under control here, nice fruity malt character is balanced by floral hops. I hardly ever pass up a DUIPA, this was a very good one. corby112 (782), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 3, 2009 Pours a clear golden orange color with light amber hues when held to a light source and a one finger foamy white head that quickly fades into a lasting ring. Minimal lacing.
Massive hop aroma fills the room once the bottle is opened. Lots of earthy and floral hops, resinous hop oil, citrus notes with a caramel malt backbone and a slight hint of grass.
Once again the earthy/floral hops dominate the flavor. Resinous chewy mouthfeel with a huge hop blast of bitterness that lasts throughout, lingering over the caramel malt backbone into a bitter dry finish. Medium bodied with a nice balance from the malt profile. Slightly sweet from the citrus notes and the alcohol is very well masked.

I realize now that their description flaunts this, but it was just over done. Reminded me of my first experience of 120min. IPA from DFH. Too strong on that stuff big time. It wasnt horrible, drinkable. But not a personal favorite. Uglyradio (776), Greenville, South Carolina, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 9, 2007 On tap at Barley’s Taproom: Copper colored with an off white head. Big, piney aroma of hops. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Big hop flavors at first, malty sweetness takes care of the bitterness in the end. Hank1980 (776), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2009 Updated: Apr 2, 2009Tap and cask at Trappeze. Pour is clear and goldish orange with white head, lots of lace. Aroma of big citrus hops, grapefruit was pretty noticable. Taste was similar with a nice malt backing and some light spiced hop coming through. The finish is nicely bitter and the mouth was full and sticky. Overall, a pretty enjoyable IPA.
