I had the good fortune of trying it the first time straight from the cask. The aroma and flavor are straight hops, it’s like holding a handful of hops right up to your nose and taking a deep breath. It’s thick but not to hearty. You won’t need a nap after one of them. This is one of the best beers I’ve had in a long time. crockettma (2), Maryland, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Apr 20, 2007 A great beer for hop lovers. I was fortunate to try this beer on the same day that the first batch was bottled (one of the perks of working at Clipper City’s top retailer). aaronh2012 (10), Maryland, USA

There’s a nice it of malt and sometimes I swear there’s some vanilla in there. Last year I had the pleasure of drinking some from a batch with an extra pound in the dry hop and the grassy hop flavor was stupendous. Anyone who loves hops must try this beer. Gouda worked well to cut the floweryness(SP?) down but I love this beer. Clipper city is showing some real brass with the Heavy Seas line. Love hops???? Get it NOW! HOP 3 [cubed]! This is the closest I’ve tasted perfection. And it’s not a Portland brew. It’s now what I seek out when visiting the Land Of Pleasant Living, Baltimore, MD.
So good, I had to take the tour.
HOPPY, Fruity, Tasty, kicky, ranks right up there with the Best each year at the Oregon Brewers Fest. Highly recommended to any IPA’er. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Clear, burnt orange, with an enduro three-quarter inch head of meringue that leaves a crunchy frosting all over the glass. Aroma is nice grapefruit with honey, caramel and a dash of pepper and oak. Taste is similar, but big body of malt sweetness holds up well against the powerful (but nice) flavor of the hops. Palate is just a touch to the light side of medium, and smoooooth. Aftertaste is a demonstration of more (yet a different) balance of malt and tongue tingling hops. Top-notch American IPA could also be a session beer for all seasons. Update: This is a damn good hop blend! Love the light carbonation and complex aromas and flavors that are slightly different on every sip. Upped initial tentative and inexperienced rating from a 4.3 to a 4.7 based on comparisons to many inferior AIPAs over the last year or so. hophead420 (4), columbus, Ohio, USA does not count | 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Mar 26, 2008 got this one at andersons general store in columbus, oh. pours a nice one finger head decent lacing. the aroma is of floral hops. perfect brew for this hop head tons of hops. i can and do drink this one every day! good job clipper city for making the best american ipa! The 7.25% ABV is barely noticable... and the taste... oh wow! Thankfully I am able to drink this practically everyday, It has certainly ruined me for several other competing beers. Once you go Hop3 you will never go back!
