Honey brown in color with a reasonable white head that faded shortly. Aroma is lots of sweet, citrus and grassy hops with a hint of malt hanging around in the back. Flavor is a nice blend of hops; honeyish with a lot of floral and grapefruit and a decent backbone of malt to balance it. A nice dry, fruity finish rounds it out. Medium bodied with nice carbonation, a very hoppy brew that doesn’t come off as overpoweringly bitter. An excellent beer. Now if I could only get more... theshocker (329), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 12, 2005 Label says there is yeast on the bottom but there is no yeast cake and its obviously not bottle conditioned. Pours an amber crystal clear color with medium, fluffy white head. Looks almost a BMC its so clear. Ctrus american hops in the nose along with pine and pepper. The hops are definately generous. The malt seems thin just because of the hop overload. Finally, a beer that is hoppy enough. I don’t notice any grassiness though. It may be out of balance but I like this one a lot. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 26, 2006 Appears a golden amber with lively streams of carbonation quickly coming up to the top. A fluffy 2 finger ivory head slowly fades into a mild cap and hearty collar. Streaks of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of hearty pine and citrusy hops with a plum, vanilla cream, and biscuit aroma resonating. Smells like I’ve got my face over the hop boil.
Taste is of the same aromas with a nice hoppy, yet balanced flavor that is in no doubt a double IPA. This could pass for a DIPA from the West Coast. Sweet up front with a tender citrus hop kick that compliments the mild caramel and biscuit.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with some lively carbonation pockets. A nice balance of super hops and crisp malt. A nice brew. I wish I could brew one like this.
This is in the winner’s column. I’d recommend this fine bottle from our friends in Baltimore anytime. RCL (1480), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

Appearance is hazy golden with a smallish head. Aroma is huge, big floral/citrus hops. Taste is all hops with very little malt and a bright citrus/piney taste. Slight alcohol burn. Oily on palate. Mouthfeel is resiny and thick, yet somehow smooth and slightly creamy - cask perfection. Overall, a great beer. pretty big in all aspects. I’ve had this in the bottle many times, but this dry-hopped cask is absolutely phenomenal.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 23, 2006 Updated: Sep 23, 2006This is a fantastic beer. The aroma contains wonderful sweet bready malts and cascade hops (or a similar variety of northwestern american hop - lots of citrus/grapefruit). The aroma also includes a lot of other fruit aromas from the esters. The beer pours wonderfully with lots of head and the mouthfeel is quite pleasant. The flavor is a complicated mix of citrus, bitter hops, sweet malts (hints of caramel). The malt profile tastes quite fine and is wonderfully balanced. It is a very bitter beer, but the malts hold up. The flavor is amazing for the strength - very little to give away the beer’s strength other than the thicker than average mouthfeel and the intense flavor (only a ton of malt could provide the sweetness to balance all of those hops). It isn’t nearly as big in hops as some american barley wines, but rather has the balance of other amazing hoppy pale ales (like Three Floyds Alpha King or Victory Hop Devil - though come to think of it not quite as bitter as Hop Devil). jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA

Pours slightly hazy, amber orange with small creamy off-white head. Strong floral and citric hops aromas, lots of grapefruit, with a nice solid malty undertone. Flavors of floral and grapefruit bitterness upfront, with nice hints of spice, pine ,and nicely balanced malts that aren’t too sweet. Bitterness and spice carry onto the palate nicely smoothed out by the malts. Best offering I’ve had from Clipper City. Previous 8 3 8 3 18 TheCEO (100), USA
