Spicy and citrusy hop aroma - this beer could clear a stuffed nose from the hop aroma alone. Flavor is big and sweet - gummy and sticky mouthfeel. Good balance with just enough sweet munich malt to balance all those hops. I could definitely smell and taste the Chinook and Amarillo, but after that it was just a chewey moutfully of hop juice. Very good big IPA. TheBeerCollector (548), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

I am very happy this great beer is on tap at my local. Excellent balance in this overhopped wonder. Wonderful hop aroma and flavor in this uber IPA. Highly recommended. HighGravity (891), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Loose Cannon is hoppy, but the hops are accented on flavoring and aroma. Very fruity. Looking forward to trying the bottled product. Braudog (3783), Dayton, Ohio, USA

Grapefruit, mostly, but not as puckeringly tart. Almost too hoppy without a firm basis, like building a great house on a crappy piece of land. But excellent. Lovely hop aroma, fresh and vibrant, floral and fruity, hints of honey, but piney, moreover, ...dazzling. Bitter, but pleasing and smooth.
Taste: ahhh! a hop ballet on the tongue, teasing and tantalizing, delivering deliciousness with every sip. Apples and pears meet the citric suspects, and the malt is sweet and sturdy, well matching the strong hop quotient. Hops last long on the palate, a fine, dragging finish that is well-loved.
The more I near completion of this bottle, the more I wish I had another. This is an IPA I’d like to return to again, very easy drinking, very smooth, very tasty.
Very nice, Clipper City, keep up the good work!

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Nov 8, 2005 This brand new DIPA arriving in Georgia proudly proclaims itself to be a Hop3 Ale, so I had to buy it to see if it had the goods. By the looks of it, pretty much like a regular IPA, with a ultra clear, pale amber body, and a persistent egg shell white head. Smell was that of floral, citric, and spicy hops. Not very pungent not piney like a west coast DIPA, this aroma felt fresh, yet restrained. Taste was very acidic with grapefruit rind astringency. The malt was rather sparingly used for the style with a thin sweet honey caramel taste. Quite pleasantly medium and very appropriate for a regular IPA, the mouthfeel felt short of expectations for a DIPA. The beer fell short of what they were shooting for. Not quite as far off the mark as the Peg Leg “Imperial Stout” from the same brewery. And like the sister beer a very well made product, but not what one would expect. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA

As it states on the label, this one really tastes "Hop3". Pours beautifully, with a medium head and a cascade of aroma that is sure to warm you to the core. I found I liked it better when served around 60 degrees farenheit. Flavor is fantastic, full, rich and smooth, I’m glad this is now available year round, as I plan to get it a lot!
