Reddish copper in color with a off white head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Hoppy malty aroma. Grapefruity, citrusy caramel notes. Malty hoppy flavor. Earthy caramel flavor. Sweet tasting. Dry bitter finish. Decent. Drinkable. JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Flavor is moderately sweet and very slightly bitter. Finish has a balance to it that is hard to accomplish with all the hops found in it. Well made IPA aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA

For an IPA it was delightful, more filtered than most, and crisp. Decent head with nice unsymetrical lacing. Probably my highest rank IPA. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 27, 2008 12 oz bottle - Pours a light amber color that’s fairly clear, with a medium sized creamy off white head. ARoma is full of pungent, oily, resiny citrusy hops, smells like some simcoe and amarillo, along with subtle spicey hops and just a touch of honey-scented malt. Flavor has a notable backbone of slightly chewy malts, along with a fair amount of herbal hops, touch of honey, with a smooth, mildly bitter finish. Definitely good. Much more of an east coast style IPA - bit darker in color, bit maltier, not quite as bitter as the west coast IPAs, but one of the best of this style I’ve had in a while. Copper color, white head, nice lacing. Nose of musky hops, rich pungent earthy citrusy resinous hops. Simcoe?!! The flavor is ’catty’, nice bitterness and pleasant underlying malt sweetness. Finishes toasty and sweet and fruity. Good IPA, full of life. BuckNaked (1204), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2005 Updated: May 8, 2006Bottle: pours to a solid golden amber, totally clear, with a small white head that seems to last all the way through. Aroma is has plenty of hops, showing mostly spicy/floral notes, bitter citrus, and light dry grass. Taste is dry grassy hops, bitter leafy hop, dry spicy citrus, light lemon, then a hint of earthy/bready malt, and pale malts towards the finish. The hops mostly take over in the finish, but there is a slight pale grain taste to go with the bitter/floral/spicy hops. Medium bodied, though it does seem just a bit light at times (not that I’m going to fault an IPA for that), and for some reason it seems to be just a bit underattenuated. I’d like it to be just a bit drier, but regardless of personal preference it’s a solid example worth your time. Re-rate: Much drier than when I first rated, excellent light body that matches the bitter and flavorful hops while not showing any alcohol. This one has quickly become one of my favorites. maltdog (517), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 25, 2006 Amber with pinkish-scarlet highlights. Sudsy head leaves massive lace cobwebs. Lush, juicy hop aromas... floral, herbal, Fuggle-y hot grass, juniper, pineapple, muscato, mango, cherry koolaid, grapefruit... all integrated with butterscotch malt. On the tongue, lipsmacking fruity-orangey, lemon gumdrop, caramel, honey, and pecan flavors abound. Dry, minerally finish with a somewhat jagged bitterness. Medium bodied; the carbonation is an unusual dichotomy of fluffy and gritty. Clean herbal-bitter aftertaste tempered by cool ethanol. Excellent American IPA. savitska (163), Smyrna, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 13, 2006 A true beer for hop-heads, I’ve seen this beer described as a Double IPA and from the aroma and dryness, I’d agree.
I LOVE the floral aroma, but the bottled appearance - it was supposed to be bottle-conditioned - left something to be desired.
Still, if you like (love) hops, find a six-pack and clear your afternoon schedule.
