I don’t know about all of these descriptive adjectives that folks use for beer. I do, however, know what I like and this is a damn fine beer. It’s not over hopped (I’ve had much hoppier) and not overly bitter for an IPA. It’s just a good solid drinkable beer. I would certainly server it to company and recommend it to friends.

I am a hop fan so this beer was bound to appeal to me to some degree. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a bronze color with a small white head that fades quickly. The aroma begins with a sour tang and quickly moves into strong grapefruit and fruit cocktail notes. The flavor is intensely strong grapefruity hops with a sugary sweet undertone. Probably the strongest and deepest grapefruity flavors I have ever encountered in a beer.

Very bright, clear copper with a thick off-white head. Very sharp, pungent piney hop aroma; Amarillo and Simcoe perhaps. Similar flavor to that of DFH 90 Minute IPA. Taste has slight caramel/toastyness but mainly pale malt to showcase the hops. Pleasantly sweet, not nearly as bitter as you would expect, in fact it’s only moderately bitter. It appears that there was a ton of flavor and aroma hopping done on the back end - has a very strong pine, citrusy and grapefruit presence. The body has recently improved; very full, round and creamy with the perfect level of carbonation. Good head retention. Overall, very very nicely done.

Bottle from the Beer Yard. This beer is as good as any of the Sly Fox varietals that I have had, which is to say that it is outstanding. It dishes out hops and takes names. The pour is copper/dark straw with a 2-finger off-white head. The aroma is hugely piney hoppy, with some spicy esters, black pepper, grapefruit, and canteloupe. The flavor is very hoppy, with a well balanced malt component. I noted the same flavors as Dreadnaught, only not quite as intense. Dense, complex mouthfeel. This one is like the younger brother of Dreadnaught, and is just outstanding. Clipper City has done it again. Seek this out, and do it today.

#900 This was on my want list for a little bit of time... fortunately Matt was willing to share this. The beer pours to a glowing golden/orange body with a nice white head and a nice spotty lacing. The aroma is very hoppy. Citrus, peaches, perfume, light caramel malt. Awesome. The flavor is hoppy but not bitter at all. The must have used a ton of caramel malt to balance out the hops. The palate is not bitter at all. Medium-light silky body. Delightful. Nice beer for #900.

Merci Ruth! Robe cuivrée très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche qui s’estompe. Arômes amères de conifères. Saveurs de conifère, de malt caramélisé, d’alcool et d’agrumes.

bottle courtesy of ivy7496, thanks! this one is very light and smooth in every way. the pour is light, but without much head. color is a very crisp clear yellow, but with a tinge of deeper orange. aroma is really nice, pure light hop essence. not too oily or heavy on the nose, but very present like a concentrated rose smell. odor of fresh baked peach scones with wild flower honey on the nose. flavor is very hoppy and light. this beer is so clean on the palate it’s amazing. i feel like i could chug this stuff all day, very crisp and refreshing, doesn’t even feel like beer it’s so clean. it reminds me of several other grand hoppers, such as two hearted and pliny. great ipa, one of the best i’ve had. very sessionable and appreciable at the same time.
