Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

Not a whole lot of flavor. Dry, but not roasty as a porter. I couldn’t find anything wrong with it, it was certainly enjoyable to drink, but I wasn’t impressed with it whatsoever. It was like a light imperial stout.

The worst imperial stout I have ever had, by far. Offensively sweet and more alcoholic than it should be at 8%. Tasted like a bad barleywine - sweet grapes and prunes. Way malty and carbonated. No bitterness. Awful. Not at all pleasant to drink.

Dark brown pour with minimal tan head. Nose of alcohol, figs, anise, and expresso. Flavor is chocolate and roasty dark malts and a very pleasant alcohol warming. Okay stout at a decent price.

12oz bottle. Pours a dark brown body with a fading tan head. Smells roasted and coffee notes. Tastes of burnt sugar with notes of coffee and chocolate.

Pitch black coloured body, slightly clear near the bottom, with a fast-dying brown head. Aroma of fresh hops, chocolate, central american coffee, cherries and roasted malt. Medium-bodied; Full taste of malt with very little of the stronger characteristics-this one is VERY light! Aftertaste is very clean. Some sweetness noticeable, but nothing bittering at all. Overall, not an Imperial Stout, and in fact you’d have no idea it was supposed to be one aside from the label and perhaps the body. More like a sweet stout than anything else. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Opera House Gourmet in Manassas, Virginia on 29-July-2005 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

(12oz bottle) Courtesy of Oakes. Sampled with Enniskillen. Pours a lasting beige, foamy head atop an opaque body. Nose of ashtray, coffee and bourbon. Very robust flavour - somewhat sour coffee, red wine. Interesting but something too atypical. Strange. 6/4/4/2/9

Black with brown edges. Aroma is lightly malty, caramel, roasty, chocolate. Taste is malty, light chocolate and roastiness. Overcarbonated for the style.

Bottle thanks to Butters. Dark black pour with a thin light tan head . Aroma is thin but chocolates and a bit sour with some soy sauce. Taste is nice chocolates, dark malts, but more astringent soy sauce.
