Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

(12oz bottle) Courtesy of Oakes. Sampled with Enniskillen. Pours a lasting beige, foamy head atop an opaque body. Nose of ashtray, coffee and bourbon. Very robust flavour - somewhat sour coffee, red wine. Interesting but something too atypical. Strange. 6/4/4/2/9

Black with brown edges. Aroma is lightly malty, caramel, roasty, chocolate. Taste is malty, light chocolate and roastiness. Overcarbonated for the style.

Bottle thanks to Butters. Dark black pour with a thin light tan head . Aroma is thin but chocolates and a bit sour with some soy sauce. Taste is nice chocolates, dark malts, but more astringent soy sauce.

Bottle. Moderate malt and hop aromas of burnt and resin, light earth for the yeast and background smells of wood and sour milk. Head is average size, frothy, light brown with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. color is black. Flavor starts heavily acidic and sour and finishes moderately acidic, bitter and sour. Palate is medium, creamy with a soft carbonation and a moderately astringent finish. This was hard to finish...bad bottle?

12 oz bottle. Dark pour with nice head. Aromas were roasted malt and other sweet dark flavors. Flavors were similar with hints of coffee. Not too bad.

This poured black in color with a moderate fluffy head of beige bubbles. Aromas were of chocolate, sweetened plum and fig, coffee and bubblegum. In the mouth it was medium bodied, sweet and concentrated with balancing carbonation. It was not very complex in the mouth but was rich and balanced.

The pour is quite black. Some chocolate and malt aroma, maybe a bit of coffee. The taste is a decent blend of semi-sweet chocolate, malt, roasted coffee, and a bit of caramel. A decent offering, not top notch, but pretty good.

Floral hops, grains, and honey in the aroma. Opaque pour and bubbly tan head. Pretty bready for a stout, with some sweetness and a fair amount of acidity. Some smoky coffee and caramel flavors too. Funny label. A little light for an imperial stout, but flavorful and drinkable. Anchors away on another good brew in the Heavy Seas series.
