Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

Pours black with a nice thick tan head that does settle quickly to patches. The aroma is espresso, toasty malt, and molasses. For the most part the flavor follows suit, roasty, bitter coffee, a little creamy, notes of chocolate, molasses and caramel. The beer finishes somewhat empty and flat, not bad at all but leaves me trying to figure out what’s missing. I think overall it’s a little thin and light for an Imperial Stout. It’s good enough and an easy drink, I don’t want to give the wrong impression, but it’s not a great beer.

Bottle. Pours midnight black with a chocolate brown head. The aroma is of roasted espresso, dried ripe fruit, and burnt cocoa. It is generously malty, very sweet with hints of the aromatics following through into the flavor. It has a full rich mouthfeel and good body. Quite simply a great stout.

Pitch black, tan head is rich and thick. Rich clean dark chocolate plus coffee liquor aroma. Mouthfeel a little prickly and surprisingly thin in finish but that keeps it moorish. Very nice chocolate and coffee bean flavors. Is clean, good, simple.

Nice black pour with a small brown head. The aroma is of dark roasted malts, and hints of chocolate and coffee. The flavor is what the aroma leads me to expect, there are some additional sweet tastes of fruit/caramel. The body is on the lighter side of full, the carbonation is a bit aggressive. this finish is long and thick. Very enjoyable.

Dark brown with creamy tan head. Sweet malt, caramel, and notes of dark berry. Very sweet malt body: caramel, mild chocolate, and raisin. Sweet front to back with mild burnt roast finish. Boring.

12oz bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with tan head. Aroma is mostly roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is roasted malt, chocoalate, caramel, and a little coffee. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Finishes bitter with good chocolate flavors. Pretty enjoyable.

Nice chocolate notes in nose. Light toasted grain, some coffee. Nice looking, very dark pour, tan head, stays around, decent lacing. Oily mouthfeel, light tingly carbonation. Rich feel to the palate. But not as rich as a typical imperial stout.

Thick black with creamy lasting off-white head. Sweeter and maltier than I was led to believe. Coffee and chocolate not as dominant. Taste is closer to a sweet porter with alcohol finish. A little bit thin. Enjoyable, although it doesn’t compete with the big dogs.
