Mocha head recedes to skim surface. Thin and slightly metallic. Lasting bitter chocolate finish. BeerVirgin72 (778), Pataskala, Ohio, USA

Very thin mouthfeel to me. With a strange fruitiness after taste. Perhaps raisins or figs. princesslala (37), North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 11, 2008 This beer is dark--like cherry wood with a mohagany stain. The head is a small bubbly cola froth, that doesn’t last long. The aroma is of sweet malts and alcohol, quite unremarkable but not unpleasant by any means. The taste is like weak chocolate-flavored coffee with artificial sweetener and a shot of vodka. This is a very familiar and comforting taste for me on an average morning, but not necessarily a taste that I like in a beer. Again it is not unpleasant, but it’s flavor is week in comparison with other imperial stuouts I’ve tried and also the mouth feel is thin and has almost too little carbonation. This is also an uncharacteristic quality for me to observe because I generally prefer beers with less carbonation. But in this beer it just makes the mouthfeel, like the aroma and the taste a kind of non-event. I would pair this beer with a really rich and creamy chocolate mousse, because its wispy characteristics would compliment it well. pik5el (51), Pasadena, Maryland, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 10, 2008 A pretty decent and easy drinking Imperial Stout with nothing to write home about. It just doesn’t have the ooomph that I expect from an Imperial. Skyview (4055), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Sampled from a 12-oz bottle and received via trade with kmweaver. Pours a clear dark cola brown brew with a light tan head that quickly dissipates to thin off-white head and thick ring. Nice lacing to the glass side. Aroma of sweet roasted dark caramel malt, some candi sugar, flowery hops and dark chocolate. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonation with a sweet chocolate and dark malt flavor. Finish has a sweet molasses and chocolate aftertaste that slowly disappears. Beer is more like a sweet stout than an imperial stout, but very enjoyable. BDR (2162), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Many thanks to Skyview for this taster. Dark brown body with brown head. Roasted malt on the nose with a faint toffee sweetness and hint of milk chocolate. Dry roasted malts with a chocolate finish on the flavor. A little bit of bitter hops on the finish. vadavid (131), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 7, 2008 From a fresh cask. Dark black in color with a thin beige head. Aroma is roasted malt with dark chocolate notes. Flavor is roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Very faint sweetness. There’s enough bitterness in the aftertaste to keep it interesting. Creamy mouthfeel. I’ve also had Peg Leg from the bottle. The cask version is richer in flavor and drinkability. My rating for the bottle version would be .5 lower. bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 6, 2008 Pours a dark black/brown color, with a coffee/chocolate aroma. Good overall flavor, but I agree with Maria, a little little light for the style.
