Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

From 12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a lacing brown head. Coffee, roasted malt, chocolate and a whiff of dried fruit. Sweet malty flavour with chocolate smoothness and a mild liqourice edge in the finish. Slight breadish end with an underlying fruityness. I love the label of this one :)

Thanks Irishboy! Pepper-orange aroma with malt and toffee. A tiny brown head. Very dark, no light passing through at all. Surprisingly thin mouth feel considering the aroma and colour, pepper-spice flavour with dark cocoa finish which lingers on long after the sip. Enjoyable.

Black pour, thin tan head. Smells of chocolate, toffee, and roasted malt. Flavor is mostly chocolate, sweet malt and hops are trying to find some presence. A bit thin on the complexity and mouthfeel. Dry, chalky finish.

Dark brown color - very slightly translucent - thin beige head. Armoa of dark fruits, molasses and a slight hint of sulfur. Flavor is fairly clean and rich, with touches of raisin, brown sugar and roasted malt. Body is fairly creamy and smooth with just a bit on an alcoholic bite. Not a world class Imperial, but quite drinkable.

Strong aroma of raisins with the essence of alcohol in the background. Very dark with almost no head. Intense sweetness that gives way to a roasted bitterness at the finish. Comes across a little thin and much sweeter than I expected.

One the pour, pitch black, little to no head. Mild carbonation. Tastes pretty good. I can’t really tell it’s an 8% at all. Normally imperial anything can be a little strong, but this beer hides the alc% pretty well. Tastes of burnt malt, hops, wood, sweet dark chocolate, mild coffee, and.. almonds maybe? Very light for imperial stout. Reminds me of Sam Adams Black Lager, only not as good. Normally I like mild stouts, but with this one I wouldnt mind if it had a little more punch to it. Would be good if it had more of a mocha flavor. Overall, pretty good, but average.

Pour is black with a large tan head that fades leaving a a quarter inch of lace. Nose is bitter with fruity and piney hops, not much chocolate or coffee upon initial sniffs. Comes through a bit more as it warms. Flavor is pretty boring, hardly any malt flavor (chocolate, roasted, coffee, caramel) picked up upon. Body is very light for the style. Missing the thickness and roastiness I enjoy in a stout. Flavor is very one demensional and simple. This is one of the weirdest imperial stouts i have ever tasted. I doubt I would be able to pick it as an imperial stout in a blind tasting. Slightly medicinal and cloying towards the end.
