Commercial Description:
The beer is a dry Imperial Stout - creamy and rich with color as black as night. It has aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, hints of molasses, toffee and caramel in the taste. Clipper City will produce only a small batch, so availability is extremely limited. IBU'S: 30 Malts: Crisp English Pale, Crisp Crystal, Chocolate and Roasted Barley Hops: Styrian Goldings, Fuggles Magnum and Amarillo

Dark pour with a nice amber head. I may have a bad bottle. Taste wasn’t off but aroma had an off smell I couldn’t place. Taste was sweet, roasted malt. I would like to try another just to verify but I wouldn’t buy this one.

The aroma is very roasted with dark fruit and molasses. The appearance is dark brown with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall this is very good.

Drinking this makes me feel that this the beer that you could make a starter beer to introduce Imperial Stout to beginners. The taste has nice mellow flavors of dark fruits, coffee and cocoa. palate is a tad thin yet the rest of a nice robust but overpowring flavor. I like this one a lot.

Bottled, purchase before 01/06. Poured clear, deep iced tea brown with a quickly-receding cap of off-white/beige head. The aroma picked up darker chocolates with sweet molasses and soy undertones.. not very roasty, but sweet and rather pleasant. The flavor was very much on the sweet side with lightly-roasted chocolates, soy, and molasses.. sticky-sweet chocolate and soy at the finish.. tasty, but too sweet and not a very good stout. Don’t think this even hit medium body.. creamy carbonation felt good.. too sweet. This was actually refreshing (which no imperial stout should be). I’d drink it again.

Pours with orange-brown generous head. Smells of chocolate, coffee, caramel, toffee. Drinks smooth with accents of burnt toffee and coffee. Not too dry. A little more maltiness than I’d like.

Bottle. Pours almost black with ruby highlights and a one finger tan head that fades to a ring and leaves good lacing. Aroma of molasses, caramel, roasted malt, and coffee. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium slightly oily mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness for an IS. Alcohol is very well hidden. Good.

6-pack from Bottle King, Wayne, NJ...bottle pours black with a medium tan head...again (like Hop3) very mild aroma, but I did pick up coffee, chocolate, and even a bit of hops...taste much of the same but what caught me by surprise was that is was unexpectedly sweet (the toffee and caramel?)...leaves a hint of alcohol in the back of the throat...bit of lacing left around the glass...I wasn’t "wow’d" by this stout but it is a decent brew.

Bottle. An opaque black with a lot of sediment floating around and a thin brown head. Aroma is a bit light but whats there is good - chocolate, roasted coffee, dark fruit and a sourness. Amazingly sweet in the flavor like mollasses in a bottle with some roasted coffee flavor and a nutty sourness. Tasty in its own way.
